Scugog Island news by Mrs. Earl Reader The Women's Institute welcomed the bright weather on Saturday for their auction tho' at times ~ they experienced more heat than was comfortable. As usual -this annual event was quite profitable. Quite an amount of good used clothing was left over and will be taken to Simcoe Hall in Oshawa. Sometimes people find a real bargain in a clothing purchase just for the buttons, zippers or some craft, or even to remodel for children. On Sunday, we welcomed a .larger congregation than on the previous week. It would seem that we appreciate the few summer Sundays before the August vacation. Two good babies are learning to attend church. There were also small children who were well cared for by Darlene Adam. Among the visitors, we welcomed the former Melody Appleton and her children from Scarborough, Sandra (Fralick) Boos and her daughter from Langley B.C., as they are visiting at Sandra's parental home of Florence and Ray Fralick, also Mrs. Brash Sr. of Burnaby, B.C. who is visiting' with her family at Fralick's Beach. Rev. Clarke will serve the charge for several Sundays. Rev. Clarke chose some information on the personal family life of Jesus which included his brothers and sisters: named in Matthew 13:55-57. ' This was for the children. But are we older people familiar with this and how Jesus was accepted by other members of his family? : Rev. Clarke's sermon was based on "Repentance", a word which rings thro' every part of the Bible. Among older people, it is estimated that 90 percent have not repented of sin and doing, during youth, but it is still not toolate, . A few well noted sinners in the Bible were Manasseh, David and the Prodigal Son but all repented and were forgiven, even tho' they didn't deserve it. Mrs. Kane Sr. is still in hospital. Improvement is slow. Greenbank and area news by Mrs. A. McMillan . Beef Barbecue on July 3ist The ticket sales are going well. Hope you have yours, Rod Foster, Murray .
