by Joyce Kelly Last Sunday Rev. and Mrs. V. Parsons and family were special guests at a reunion of: members of the Scugog Shores Historical Society Choir. This reunion which took 'the form of a pot luck dinner was held at the home of Catherine and Norm Watson, Port Perry and was attended by nearly fifty members from various Ontario points. During the evening Victor and Ruby and girls were presented with gifts and good wishes on the occasion of their moving to their new home in Colborne. Melinda Meaney and Polly Nyquist of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania are two of fifteen Girl Scouts who along with their leaders are spend- ing a week exchange with thirteen Girl Guides from the Woodland Division. While here Melinda and Polly are staying with Elaine Kelly who is one of the Ontario girls. During the week they will spend three days at Camp Adelaide, visit Cullen Gardens, Ontario Place and the C.N.E. Weekend guests of Rhoda and Burton Strong were Rhoda's friend, Doris Bryce from Mississauga, Doris' brother, Dennis Robertson of Scotland and her penpal friend, Iris Thomas from Cambridge, New Zealand. Of interest is the fact that Doris, her brother Dennis and another sister who live in Brampton are triplets. This group is enroute from Brampton to Ottawa. Many 4-H"s from here participated in the Junior Days activities at Peter- borough Fair on Thursday. Miss Ruth Corner of Aurora, Mrs. May Umphrey of Mississauga and. Scugog Island news by Mrs. Earl Reader Will the person who borrowed the deep cooking utensil from the Island Hall, please return it, as it is needed this Friday for the Alstein wedding catered to by the "Head'" U.C.W. The ladies would also appreciate the return of an oval roasting pan. if you have either one or know where they are please call Marion Carter or Bonnie Gerrow. Recently, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dowson took advantage of their freedom from mail delivery, by a short vacation to North Bay when they also called on former Island resi- dents, June and Keith Crozier. June has a very successful store business. Now that the postal strike is over, deliveries are heavy so the posties make up for the rest period. Recently, the family of Mrs. Harold Forder enjoyed a re-union- picnic at the 'Orono family farm. While in the area, Norma's brother and wife Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ransberry from Montreal and their daughter from California visited at the Forder home. We understand Harold and Norma Forder had very good luck with the showing of four cattle at the Peter- borough Fair, when they won 6 firsts, a Grand champion and reserved grand champion in different classes. Last week we learned that Marion and Clarence Carter had taken a few days of well earned vacation with their camper. Then we were pleased to hear they had enjoyed Upper Canada Village, Fort Henry and the Thousand Island Boat trip with an exploration of the partially restored castle on Heart Island. We are sorry to hear that Tillie Burnham, one of our former posties, has been under the weather for some time. We trust she will soon get cured and be restored to good health. Last week Allison (Barry) Leach, a former resident on the (Head) Middleton farm and her young son Brian called on former neighbours, Earl and Reta Reader. On Sunday, Harold and Norma Forder motored with friends to a small place near Winchester or Prescott. HELPFULHINT To make a pattern last longer, spray it with fabric protector while it is still new.
