That was the conclusion . reached in a feasibility study conducted over the summer by university students Leslie Forder and George Cope, working for the Durham Region Family YMCA. Although the study, with conclusions and recommen- dations has been completed, Elizabeth Moore, program director for the Durham Y told the Star Monday morn- ing, it will take the staff at least two weeks to review the findings and come up with a decision on whether to go ahead and attempt to pro- vide the facility. The study prepared by Ms. Forder and Mr. Cope, says there about 140 families in Scugog which indicated they would use a day care facility, and 70 of these said they would do so immediately. The study also found no strong objections to day care facilities, and that families needing day care are more concerned about location and quality, rather than the cost. Results As a result of the feasi- bility study, several recom- mendations have been made to the Durham Y, with the main one being that a centre 'should be set up for 32 children aged two to five years. The recommendations FASHION DRAMA'81 FASHION SHOW at TOWNHALL 1873 presented by "Friends of the Library" ~-- AFund Raising Event for the New Library -- suggest it operate from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and the daily fee per child should be between $9 and $12. Onerecommendation suggests that the centre be integrated to accommodate mentally handicapped children. Just where a YMCA oper- ated day care facility would be located is up to the staff at Durham Y, but the report suggests that if a decision is made to provide such a facility, the YMCA should consider using the Library Building on Queen Street, which will become vacant early next year when Scugog's new library on Water Street is completed. Foolish prank Durham Police are investi- gating two incidents last week in which drivers claim objects were thrown at their cars by the occupants of an approaching car. Both incidents occurred the same day, the first near Columbus' which resulted in about $300 ddmage to a car, and the second on Highway 7A west of Port Perry, damaged the rad of a car belonging to a Port Perry resident. He told police his car was hit by a pop bottle. ww ¥ [LA Te a CUBR) PALA La Aa \ - et 54 W ; RY Fong A StU SRR ELK, : od ¥ | A A scrap of food thrown on the ground In the park will immediately attract several gulls who seem to appear out of nowhere and are very aggressive and iat HTN FAIA od th SARE RESAN TRIE ERE EN 0 NE park. bold.
