Concordia Orchestra looking for musicians If your are an amateur or semi-professional musician, living in the Durham Region, the Concordia Pops Orches- tra needs you. The orchestra is looking for new members for the 1981-82 season, Wood- wind, brass, percussion and especially string players (violin, viola, cello-and bass) * are welcome to join our musical organization. The orchestra provides an opportunity for musicians of --all ages," from students to senior citizens to perform together. Young musicians are able to gain experience through rehearsal . and performance, while many of our mature members enjoy playing as an avocation.ir Orchestral repertoire covers a wide range of musical styles - from classical to pop. Concerts are presented for various organizations throughout the Durham Region - wi special emphasis on ormances for Senior citizens' groups and charitable institutions. Rehearsals will take place on Sunday evenings, from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m., at. Anderson Collegiate Voca- tional Institute, 400 Anderson Street, Whitby, Ontario. The first rehearsal of the new season is -on Sunday, September 13, 1981. New members are welcome to attend the first- rehearsal. This was the roll call at our August 19th meeting, held in Greenbank Park, in the form of a picnic. Sixteen ladies enjoyed the delicious pot-luck dinner held at noon. Later a short business meeting took place. After the Ode, and Mary Stewart Collect, the president, Helen McKean, welcomed everyone, -and read a poem "This is a Wonderful World". Minutes of the last meeting was approved as read. Our "antique display" at Port Perry Fair was discussed, also we decided to take our crewel work to Uxbridge Fair. The. new programs were handed out for the 1981-1982 year.
