On Saturday, Nov. 21,4981, the Legion Pee Wee All Stars travelled to Lakefield for their first tournament of the year. After 3 well played games they were the Conso- lation winners. The first game was against Peter- borough. The first goal was scored by Peterborough at 9:23 of the first period. Port finally tied it up with an unassisted goal by Brad Menzies early in the second period. Dave Burnett gave us a 2-1 lead late in the third period with a goal assisted by John Harman. With 1:17 left in the game Peter- borough tied it up, the game ending in a 2-2 tie, After one overtime period the game was still tied. members of each team are "chosen for penalty shots. John Harman and Dave Burnett both scored for Port Perry, but Peterborough also scored 2 goals. Three more have to shoot but this Three time Peterborough scored 2 goals while Port was unable to score. Kevin Cearns played an outstanding game in net. The second game was against ° the Oshawa Canadians with Port Perry winning this game 8-1. Dave Burnett opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal assisted by David Culbert. Brad Menzies made it 2-0 on a power play goal assisted by Steve Durham and John Bantams come alive The Bantam game in Port Hope on Friday November 20 was by far the best effort to date. The second thing we did was back check with pretty good authority. The main thing that has happened which really made us feel good was that the attitudes - have changed and personalities seem to be working together. We play in a league which is extremely strong "and it makes us feel good to see such improvement. We knew there was a lot of work to do but it all seems worth- while when. such effort is put out by the team. John Harman scored with 30 seconds left in the game from Brad Menzies and Steve Durham to make the final score 8-1. Brad Menzies won the Most Valu- able Player Trophy for this game and Mark Barkey won the Most Sportsmanlike Player Trophy. The third game for the Consolation was against Aurora with the final score 5-1 for Port Perry. A quick goal by Steve Durham in the first minute of play gave Port a good start, assisted by John Harman and Dave Burnett. Mark Barkey assisted by Blair Phillips made it 2-0 before the end of the period. Aurora finally got their only goal early in the third period. Port Perry replied with 3 more goals. Dave Burnett, unassisted, John Lally, unassisted and Blair Phillips assisted by John Lally and Scott Feasby. Steve Whelan played 2 out- standing games in net. Mark Barkey received the Most Valuable Player Trophy for the last game of the day. All of the boys played exception- ally good hockey. Dave Burnett scored the winning goal, unassisted with 6 minutes left in the game. Steve Whalen and Kevin Cearns shared the goaltending duties. On Wednesday, Nov. 25, the Legion Pee Wee All Stars travel to Pickering. Their next home game will be against Lindsay, Friday, Nov. 27th, at 9 p.m. Petites downed 4-2 by Marg Pelow On Saturday, November 21, 1981 the **Bruton's 1.D.A. Petites" played an exhibi- tion game against Whitby which they lost by a score of 4-2. The first goal was scored by Kim Loudfoot with assists going to Misty Andrews and Jenny Blanchard. The second goal was scored by Jen Pelow, unassisted. Melissa and Karyn showed much improvement on defence. The other defence- men also played well. Nicky and Misty, our two "littlest" players, played a good game and with a few more chances will be scoring goals soon. All forwards played well. Jessica made some good saves between the pipes. Sorry you couldn't be with us, Laura. Come and watch these girls play, when most will be in their first tourna- ment on Saturday, Nov. 28, 1981. Our first game will be played at 8:50 a.m. at the local arena. See you there. Ringette tourney (From page 14) wards the end of the first period the Juniors got on the scoreboard. At the start of the second period the juniors came on very strong with two goals in the first 5 minutes of the period to tie the game. The Juniors had many opportunities to score but due to good goaltending by the Ajax goalie.. We also had great goaltending and defence. We then went into over- time and the goalie stopped us again and with 1 minute and 20 seconds Aiax got past our goalie to take the lead and win. The scoring was done by Kelly Raines 2, Stephanie Butt 1, assists by Brenda Shepstone 1, Kelly Storry 1. Evén though the Sports- land Juniors didn't make it to (he championship game they\played great and looked eat on the ice. The Juniors won the respect of many players, parents, coaches for their great effort and play of the game. Diane McDougall and Jill Kendall played an outstand- ing game for the team.
