He was rushed to the Port Perry Hospital but passed away from a. heart attack. Sympathy is exten- ded to his wife Bernice, daughter Gladys Trewin and son Glenn and Audrey Gibson all of Oshawa. The funeral service was held on Saturday. Better health is wished for Bill Johnston, Jim Emerton and Mike Medd who are all in hospital, as well as to all those suffering from the flu. Mr. Marvin Nesbitt, Mr. and Mrs. John Nesbitt of Lindsay were Wednesday afternoon callers of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson. Howard Bailey and Franz- Josef Ruther spent a few days last week in Western Ontario, they visited another Canadian-German exchange ~ at Sarnia. Mrs. Pat Fletcher, Diana and Scott attended the annual Fletcher Christmas gathering held at Bobcay- geon on Sunday. : Congratulations to Debbie Lee who won a $450. entrance scholarship to Trent Univer; sity in Teacher-Education. Debbie was one of 112 students from across Canada winning entrance scholar- ships. The news of this accomplishment arrived too late to be included in the' C.H.S. Commencement last Saturday evening. Congra- tulations Debbie on this achievement. On Sunday morning a large number of members of the Synenham Kiwanis Club from Oshawa conduc- ted the worship at the United Church. Organist was Mr. Frank Walter, Leader of the service was the Rev. Merrill Ferguson. The choir composed of large number of gentlemen sang a fine anthem, How Great Thou Art the hospital by ambulance. A large number of resi- dents attended the Santa Claus Parade held on Satur- day morning in both Lindsay and Bowmanville. Both parades were of fine quality. Next Saturday the parade is being held at Port Perry. On Saturday the annual 4-H Awards Banquet was held at Maple Grove Church. Quite a number of local families attended this event. Word has just. been re- ceived that Danny Russell was injured at a hockey game on Saturday. He is a patient in Oshawa Hospital where he will be for at least Dec. 31,1981 for a few days. This hospital stay will be followed by a lengthy period of convales- cence at home. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly and girls were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and "Mrs. Bob Petch; Kent and Catherine, Aurora. Formed last October(80), and chartered on April 10th, the club has, apart from its Charter Night held three fund-raising events; a turkey roll last December which was quite successful, a dance on March 7 which was well supported and most recently the club concluded a drive for the C.N.I.B. which netted $1,000.00 This money will go to support the blind in this area.
