Plans were made to remember the elderly and shut-ins with Christmas cheer and a church calendar. Committee appointed - convener. There was some discussion re - moving the Bazaar up a couple of weeks to see if we can miss the bad weather. Carol Mairs is the new gift convener for hospitalized people. The annual fruit baskets are to be made up at Carol Mairs home on Dec. 16 at 9 AM.. There are 32 names on the list as of this writing. In January the ladies will be going on a point system. There will be a chart put up at the hall and at every workable function everyone will sign in. At the end of the year each girl will receive a SRG MN set amount of money per point. There will be no meetings for Jan. and Feb. with the next meeting March 1st.. If any business should arise a special meeting will be call- ed. The meeting ended with a wine and cheese party with Marg and Anne Lee pouring the wine. A gift exchange with last years Mystery sister took place and a draw- ing of next years Mystery sister. He was the son of the late Clarence and Alma Hayes and lived all his life on the farm where he was born and which he loved. He was a member of Columbus United Church. A past member and director of the Oshawa Fair Board. Was Sheep Valuator and Pound Keeper for the former Town- ship of East Whitby and later Oshawa for many years. He was Animal Control Officer for several years. Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife, the former Verna Marie Hagle. One son, Gary of Oshawa. Two daughters, Mrs. Victor Elliott of Milton, (Donna), and Mrs. John Quackenbush of Oshawa (Susan). Two sisters, Mrs." W.R.F. Hayter of Oakville, Frances and Mrs, Clifford Johns of Coldwater, Dorothy. One . brdther William of Cambray. Three grandchildren, Cheryl and Lisa Hayes and Shawn Elliott. He was predeceased by one brother Ray who died in October 1980. Mr. Hayes was at the McIntosh Anderson Funeral Home, Oshawa. Funeral Service was "held in the chapel on Tuesday, Novem- ber 24, at 3 p.m. followed by interment in Groveside Cemetery. : Rev. John Hill of Columbus officiated.
