District Deputy Grand Matron Ada Ormesher from West Hill braved the weather and was given a warm Blue Ray welcome by the worthy Matron and escorted by the East by Conductress Joyce Taylor. Business was kept to a minimum and after Chapter closed a visit from Santa was a '"'highlight" with some lively, toe-tapping piano music by Carol Morrow for Santa to step to. Two special draws were held - first - a Ginger- bread House was won by Marilyn Hewson, and a Ceramic Chalet was won by Emmie Cox. Congratulat- Katie Mairs, Karen and Tracy Doyle, Christopher Bronson, Robert McEachern Jeffrey Shephard, Lonny and Patricia McGarvey. It was decided to send a $5.00 dona- tion. This is a House located in the vicinity of Sick children's Hospital, Toronto, where families can stay while their children are being treated at the Hospital for Cancer or Cancer related diseases. The first House of this kind was built in Philadelphia, in 1974 and was so warmly received that they now have 18 across the United States. The Ronald McDonald House in Toronto is the first one in Canada. We warmly commend the Court girls for another worthwhile endeavour to their credit. ions to the winners! Nestleton United Sunday The Pot Luck supper held School Concert prior to the card party was Sunday evening ,was a wonderful with a great 'Highlight' when the variety of delicious food to sample. A most enjoyable evening for all present. Next Wednesday evening as usual. Try to attend. Court Lady Snowbird L1930 Canadian Foresters This year the Court girls are beginning a new project. Instead of buying each of the member's children under 12 years a Christmas gift, they are donating $5.00 per child to Ronald McDonald's House in Toronto. The children's names to be put on the donation are Steven and Nestleton Sunday School students held their Christmas entertainment. Proud parents,grand- parents and friends watched as the little folks performed, faces shining, starry eyed, dolled up in their finest. They presented their parts so well with dedicated teachers working behind the scences. Superintendent Robert Mairs was at the helm, his wife Carol the able pianist for an interesting evening. The following numbers were presented: Primary Class Son, "When Santa Gets Your Letter", followed by a recitation 'Santa Claus Must Have blundered". The Nursery class in costume delighted a]l with their three numbers - "The Christmas Story" with the Babe in the Manger scene acted out and singing "Away in A Manger" and "Jesus Loves Me" with teacher Joanne Malcolm taking the lead. Next came an interesting play by the Junior and Intermediate classes entitled, "A Lesson From Larry" closing with singing "Silver Bells." The entire group sant 'Go Tell It On the Mountain", "Little Gray Donkey" and 'We Three Kings". At this period a Carol sing along was enjoyed by all present with Robert Mairs leading. The closing recitat- ion by Arlene Davis completed the program. To the tune of "Here Comes Santa Claus" the jolly old chap bounced in with his pack of goodies much to the delight of the children. Lunch was served by the U.C.W.and a social hour followed. Our warmest appreciation to Robert Mairs (Superintendent) pianist Carol Mairs and the Sunday School staff for the effort put forth, to give pleasure to the youngsters, and parents, at this Christmas season. Nestleton United Church A very good attendance at. the Christmas 'service on Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 11:15 A.M. for the fourth Sunday in Advent. Rev. John Smith lit the four candles - symbolizing Love - Hope - Peace and Joy and talked to the Sunday School re - the meaning of Advent and Christmas before they retired to their classes. "Go, Tell It On The Mount- ains" a traditional Negro Spiritual was beautifully sung by Janice MacKenzie and daughters Claire and Leslie much to the enjoy- ment of the congregation. The regular choir sang the lovely old sacred number '"O Holy Night' with = Gail Malcolm taking the solo part. The minister's message re - "We Believe in Christmas' was meaningful to all. Ralph Sadler- and Norman Mairs vecoivedl. the offering. Nestleton Presbyterian Church Rev. Fred Swann welcomed a fine congregation for Christmas Sunday, Dec. 20th to a service of Carol singing. . Scripture was taken from Isaiah and Luke. After the reading of the story the 4th Advent Candle was lit by Mr. B. McCabe. The 5th Candle was lit by Rev. Swann. A Flute solo "The Bagpipe Carol" played by Miss Peggy Scott was enjoyed. Offer was received and White Gifts dedicated. The choir favoured with the Christmas selection 'All Our Hears Rejoice This Morning" sung to the tune "Joyful, Joyful" - melody from Ludwig van Beethoven 1770-1827. Rev. Family News Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lynch and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Trick of Lindsay were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Bowers, Nestle- ton. Mrs. Lynch is a niece of George 'Bowers. Constable Jerry Bowers, Peterborough and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bowers visited her older brother Mr. William Elford who is presently in Mindemoya Hospital Manitoulin Island.
