CLAY PAL RATE BANTAM HOUSELEAGUE Goreski-vs-1.G.A. 1.G.A, topped the Goreski team 4 - 2. .G.A. goals went to Bartley, Travis, Edwards, and Bouwmeester, Assists picked up by Fluke and Ash. A slashing penalty to Fluke and tripping penalty to Edwards. . Goreski goals were scored by Maw and White. Goreski and Waite played well between the pipes. Cochrane vs Emmeson A close game ending in a tie made an exciting hour for spectators and players. Ex- cellent work by goalies Perry and Enzie. Emmerson penalties to Saulnier and Dempsey for roughing and a second one each for tripping. Ted Cochrane 1 goal, 3 assists. Scoring for Frank was Darryl Prosser, Steve McTavish, Darryl Bratt, David Timms, Chris Watson, all with 1 goal a piece. Scoring for Lions was Calvin Brewster 2, Jeff Fedyk 1, Basketball teams hit a blank by Kevin Harris Port Perry High School's boys basketball teams; midgets, junior, senior, all lost in tough games against the top O'Neill squads. Midgets Port's 'midgets played very well through out their game. . The content saw the Rebels grab a 12 - 10 first quarter edge. In the second period Port Perry exploded for 20 points. The half ended Port 32 O'Neil 19. O'Neil held the midgets to 4 points in the third quarter, which ended 36 - 27. The Rebels turned the ball over and over in the fourth quarter. All Port had to do was stall the game, but Port's inexperience showed as they saw their lead dwindle to a tie. The game went into over- time. Port had a chance to prove themselves but came up short. The buzzer sounded dnd the midgets had lost their second game of the season. Vaughan McKee was top scorer with 18 points. Paul Bateman got into double figures as well with 10 points. Darryl Mussleman banked in 7 points as Sam McCreight and Mark Buttlers scored 5 and 4 points respectively. Juniors The O'Neill junior squad dominated throughout the entire game. Port was not expected to stay close with the superb O'Neill team. Port played:-well in the first period even though they found themselves losing 15 - 6. Seniors Port's senior boys squad went into O'Neill not given a chance to win. But the - Rebels were obviously never told. The boys played very well in the first quarter. They played excellent defense and came up with a 12 - 2 lead. In the remainder of the half Port played a running style of basketball and got burned. O'Neil contributed 28 points to their score and came away with a 30 - 19 advantage. The team has to learn to set up for the good shots and not to let so many two and three or ones go against them. The third quarter ended 48 - 31 because of Port's lack of experience. In the final quarter Port came back but fell short. O'Neill handed the Rebels their third consecutive loss. Final score O'Neill - 60, Port Perry - 51. All three teams will host Central on Friday January 8. This: will be Port's home opener. pe Wrestling The Port Perry High School wrestling team had 5 boys selected to the L.0.S.S.A. All-Star squad. This team of all-stars travelled to Elmira, New York for a dual meet.. Port sent;" Mike Barton, Mark Bemish, Pat Bertrand, Bernie Vanderzivet and Rob Huggins. Marj Tripp -1 Scugog Lumber-0 In a rea] thriller Marj PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed. December 23, 1981 -- 27 Tripp Realty defeated Lake Scugog Lumber 1 to 0. Marj Tripp scored the only goal in the first minute of play with an unassisted goal by Chris Lavereau. Both goaltenders, Cole Perry for Scugog and Brian Appleby for Tripp made many fine saves to make this such a close game. U.AW.-7 Swamp Garage -0 In this game U.A.W. walk- ed all over Swamp Garage by defeating them 7 - 0. Scoring for U.A.W. were Paul Turner with a hat trick, Peter Brock with 2, Ryan Parliament and Marvin Hughes each had 1 goal. Assists went to Peter Brock, Micheal Skerrat, Marvin Hughes and Paul Turner. Brent McMillan recorded the shutout for U.A.W. Year.
