Chris Tweens were scheduled to Port Perry broomball action by Dave Dalton C and B tied twice in a row For those that missed last week's play here is a capsule ~ update of what happened in the league. In the first game Beacocks came back from a 2 - 1 deficit late in the third to down Larocque's. 4 - 2. The next game saw C&B whip Brian's by an 8 - 3 score. Utica scored in the empty net to defeat Emmerson's 4 - 2 in the third game of the schedule. A fourth game was played this week as a make- up was played involving C&B and Brian's from Nov. 22. A minor upset was pulled off as Brian's rallied in the final two minutes to tie the game at 2 apiece. With Utica winning today and C&B tying, Utica now stands just 2 points behind first place C&B with 6 games to go before the end of the season to earn the right to go to the Regionals. In the first game of the day Utica squeaked past Brian's, who are a much improved team as of late, by a 3 - 2 score. Both teams were scoreless through the first period and a half although Brian's had the better chances with the aid of two power plays. Chester Down, with the assistance of Tim Mitchell put Utica ahead midway through the second frame. Late in the period Brian's appeared to have scored the tying goal, but the referees ruled it was direct- ed in with a hand. In the third period Utica took a 3 - 0 lead on goals by Laval Pulin from Keith Ellicott, and one by Danny McKee from Bernie McEnaney. Brian's wouldn't say die as they staged a minor come back on their way to trying to earn the tie. The last two goals were scored by Jim O'Neill unassisted, and Ken St. Amant from Bill Peeters. The next game saw the first of the two ties in the day. Emmerson's took the lead in the first as the Beacock's defence gave the ball away at their own blue lines. This allowed Walter Kurham to walk in on McLean who had come out of his crease to meet the ball carrier. As they collided the ball skittered away into the empty net. On the play from centre, Beacock's charged down the ice to tieitat1-1, as Tom Wottes fired a shot to the front of the net where Terry Black deflected it in. Throughout the remainder of the game Beacock's applied the pressure in the Emmerson's end, but to no avail as Mike Haines be- tween the pipes stone walled them. The final score ended at 1 a piece. The final game of the day pitted first place C and B against fourth = place Larocque. As in the last game this one also ended in a 1-1 draw. This affair was a long drawn, close checking game with a great deal of play resulting between the two blue lines. Larocque Tweens split two tournament games by Jeannie Muir On Wednesday, December 30th, 1981 the Chris Allen Aluminum Tweens went to the Whitby Ringette Tourn- ament. Our first game was against Richmond Hill, and the score was 8-1 in favour of the Chris Allen Tweens. Karyn Raines scored 2 goals assisted by Lesley Biggin and Jessica Fluke, Heidi Meisner scored three goals assisted by Karyn and twice by Jessica. Heather Muir scored the remaining three . goals assisted by Tina Soomre and twice by Jen- nifer Pelow. In the second game we met the team from Mariposa. We have had a slight problem trying to beat this team recently, but all our girls went out determined and flying. The first goal of the game was scored by Heather assisted by Coleen Scala. We are all very proud of Coleen who also scored her first ringette goal in this game, she was assisted by Donna Edwards. Heidi scored twice with assists going to Tina and Jennifer. Heather scored a further two goals assistéd by Coleen and Donna. Although the final score was 11-6 in favour of Mari- posa all our girls played very well. Some of our Chris Allen Tweens are away for the holidays and we borrowed Jennifer Pelow and Jessica Fluke from the Petite Team, both girls played well and did much to help our game. Lori Ann Newell played very _. well in goal for both teams. Thank you all girls. On Sat. Jan, 22nd, 1982 the Allen Aluminum play a league game against Mariposa at Oakwood, due to many of our girls being away for the holidays, we didn't have enough players to make up a team, and since we have a slight problem winning against Mariposa we bor- rowed three girls from the Junior team and off we went. We may have lost the points in the league, but we did win the game. With the help of Juniors: Kelly Storey, Alison Mitchell and Kelly Raines we romped to an 8-4 yictory. Heather Muir Scored three goals assisted by Tina Soomre and Kelly Raines. Kelly also scored four goals with an assist going to Lesley Biffin. Heidi Meisner completed the scoring for the Chris Allen Tweens. may have held a small advantage as they had more power plays, making the last one good as they scored to tie _ the game. As a matter of fact C and B scored when both teams had a man in the box. Both teams had their chances through the first two periods, but couldn't chalk up any points on the board. With 6:00 minutes to go Mike Mitchell fired a shot at Tubby 'Beer who let the rebound get away from him allowing Tim Ashbridge to bat it in Four minutes later, on the power play, Larocque's put the pressure on and it result- ed in Kopie DeJong blasting a shot over the shoulder of Keith Fraser to tie it up. This coming Saturday, January 9th, the league will be hosting its annual 16 team tournament out at the Man- vers Twp. Arena, All 6 host teams will be playing, with the first game starting at 6:00 A.M. The finals will get started at 9:00 P.M. Sat. night. Pee Wee B's win iwo tough games by Doreen Kendall The George Stone Realtor Pee Wee B's had two big league games this past week against Sunderland and Cannington and in both games came away as winners. These both were hard fought games and the Stones played their best of the season. January 2nd saw Sunder- land in Port and this was Port's game from the first face off. There was never any doubt as to the outcome as the Stones rolled over Sunderland 9 to 1. Congratu- lations to Blair Philips on a super effort scoring a hat trick and two assists. Jamie Menzie had an excellent game with 2 goals and 2 assists. The other big guns for the evening were Christ Skura, 2 goals 1 assist, Danny Vernon 1 goal 1 assist, Rob Brown 1 goal and 2 assists and Mike Gibson with a goal. Stephen Connors picked up a pair of assists, Blair Bailey and Keith Roberge each had single assists. Mark Kendall was between the pipes and turned away a lot of rubber, well done Mark! Nine penalties were assessed with Sunder- land picking up 7 and Port 2. Sunday, January 3 saw Cannington in Port and this team is unbeaten in our league, but the Stones rose to the occasion and took the boys in orange 4 to 3. This 'was rough end to end match and each boy gave his best: Scoring for Port saw Brad Traves with 2 big goals, Blair Philip with a goal and an assist. Jamie Menzies, Chris Skura and Mike Gibson each picked up assists.
