PERIL PONTIAC BUICK LIMITED 10VANEDWARD DRIVE, PORT PERRY - 985-847 "Serving the Community Since 1976." by Marilyn Beacock Hi Folks! It's wonderful to be back writing this column again after several months absence. I've really missed you! Many thanks to those of you who were so generous with their compliments and encouraged me to return to writing the news. Sure hope I can continue to be worthy of those kind words. Welcome to the Great White North. A very apt expression that pretty well sums up our wintry condi- tions that have prevailed during the last couple of weekends. The blowing snow and extreme wind-chill factor have been somewhat of a deterent for all the snowmobile and cross- country skiing enthusiasts in our area. Oh well, cheer up you Losers, next .weekend will hopefully be a bit more pleasant so then you can take off eh! Congratulations to Master Ian Smith who happily celebrated the ripe old age of 10 this past week. Hope you had a happy day lan! The Seagrave Cub pack and their leaders enjoyed a winter camp at Camp Samac in Oshawa during this past weekend. On Monday, I'll bet there were a lot of tired boys and leaders. Rev. Rodgers has been busy this past few weeks organizing a Young Peoples Choir group for all the teen- agers on the Greenbank Pastoral Charge. If you are a teen-ager and would like to join this rapidly expanding group be at the Greenbank Church on Fri. Jan. 22 at 8:00 p.m. for an evening of fun and entertainment. I've got a hot flash from our Parks Board Represent- ative Norma Adams. Wax up those skiis, gas up the snow- mobile and whip over to the Seagrave Community Park for a day of recreation and a whole lot of fun. The Parks Board are sponsoring their Annual Winter Fun Day on Sun. Jan. 24th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The cost of PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed. January 20, 1982 -- 9 Seagrave and area news admission is a very reason- able $3.00 per family and it includes snowmobile rides, snow soccer, hay rides, skiing and best of all when you've tuckered yourself out with all this outdoors activity you can be revived with a steaming cup of hot choco- late complete with a delic- ius hot dog dripping with lots of mustart and relish. Now doesn't that make your mouth water? In case of inclement weather condi- tions, surely the weather- man can't zap us three weekends in a row! it will be held on Feb. 14th. Gee maybe the guys should bring a box of Valentine chocolates for their sweetheart that day. Sorry fellas, I was just kidding! In order to continue to keep our park the pride of our community the Parks Board needs that special commodity called "money" to enable them to improve and upgrade the present facilities so when a Parks Board member knocks on your door during the first two weeks of March - welcome him with a big smile and a donation. Mom, Dads, tots and teens get the rust off the blades and the blue mold off of the laces and get yourselves up to the Oakwood Arena for an evening of skating on Sun. Feb. 21st from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Hope to see you there: The annual Seagrave Congregational meeting will be held at the Seagrave United Church on Jan. 20th at 8:00 p.m. All leaders of the church organizations are requested to prepare and present your annual reports at this meeting. Please plan to attend. That's about it for this week's news folks. Please call Barb MacDonald at 985-2728 with any items for next week's column. GOT TIME? Time on your hands?
