Bantams Old news is some- times good news and the Bantams came up witha 5-3 win over Uxbridge on Jan. 6, 82. An excellent team effort. Scoring for Port was Mike Dickson with two, Craig Menzies, Fred Cockerton and Ron Brown with one each. Fred Cockerton also picked up three assists in that game while Jamie Lee had two assists and Greg Wariner one-assist. A perfect effort by everyone con- cerned. We were in Pickering Village on Jan. 14, 82 and came away witha 6-1 win. A good effort but a lot slower game. We easily handled Pickering Village. Mike Dickson got three goals, Fred Cockerton, Lee Wilbur and Greg Warriner got one The Rebels have won seven of a possible nine games in the new year and in their own gym. The teams first three games were away and win 5-3 each. Assists went to Craig Menzies with two, Jamie Lee, Fred Cockerton and Ron Brown one each. It was good to have two wins in a row. Sunday, January 17, 1982 we were in Uxbridge for a game which we lost 6 - 1. Mr. Barkey was pleased by the effort. We only had thirteen players and with that many players we had Mark Bouwmeester up from house league. The only goal of this game was scored by Greg Warriner from Craig Menzies. As you can see Mike Dickson didn't score any goals in this game. Unfortunately he broke his wrist playing hockey and joins Jeff Cockerton who also has a broken wrist. They are definitely going to be missed. Telephone: 985-8435qr 98 Feasby, Kevin Kearns, Steve Whalen, Dave Burnett and Bob Goble. Now its home sweet home and Port teams look good. ~ Congratulations go out to all three squads. Good luck and maybe we will find the Rebels in the L.O.S.S.A. playdowns. Seniors Port's senior men looked like they had their game wrapped up in the first quarter. The second period opened with the hometown Rebels ahead 16 - 10. Both squads looked good in the remainder of the half and the score ended 28-22, The Rebels opened it up in the third quarter and grabb- ed a 14 point lead. The game ended in Port Perry's favour 59 - 34. Nine of ten players made the scoreboard for the home team. Everyone played well and started to play some team basketball. Todd Wilbur led all scorers in the game with 16 points. Peter Stone and Scott Wallace each banked in 14 points. Kevin Harris and Pete Christie combined for 4 and 3 points respectively as Tom Muirhead, Ed Summer, Rob Granssen and Paul Van Camp hooped in two points each. All players should be con- gratulated on the fine played game. The team has looked good under their new coach Mr. Rodway. Junior Port's junior team looked just as impressive as the seniors did and also came away with a well deserved win. The first half saw the Rebels jump out to a quick start with a 15 - 8 lead at the buzzer which ended the first quarter. Donevan muscled their way back as they cut the home team's lead to three. Half ended Port Perry 28 Donevan 25. Port exploded in the third period to take a 50 - 36 lead. The game ended Port 60 Donevan 46. Rob Burnett lead the way and scored 21 points. Pickering Village dis- covered what the Port team is all about in two of the three games. On January 13, Port managed a 4 to 0 win. Kevin Cearns and Steve Whalen "performed well in net to earn the shutout. Brad Menzies opened the scoring with assists going to. John Harman and Scott Feasby. Scott, who is playing on right wing in place of injured Steve Durham, made it number two with an assist from Brad Menzies. Brian Dean scored the third goal on assists from Rob Baker and Andrew Steele. Andrew managed his second assist of the evening when he passed to Brad Menzies who made no mistake and scored the fourth and final goal of the game. Cold 'weather and even colder dressing rooms created a slow start for Port against Pickering on Sunday afternoon, January 17. Half- way through the second period, Port was down 3 to zip. John Harman started Port on their comehack with a picture goal after receiving a pin point pass from Brad Menzies. Goals by Rob Baker from Brian Dean and Mark Barkey and by Brad Menzies from Dave Culbert evened the score by the beginning of the third period. Dave Burnett then scored two goals within three min- utes to put Port beyond reach. The first of Dave's goals was assisted by Rob Baker while John Lally and Dave Culbert received assists on his second goal. Port Perry trounced Port Hope 7 to 1 on January 15. The first period produced good, two way hockey to yield a two goal lead for Port Perry on goals by John Lally from Dave Burnett and by Scott Feasby from John Harmon and Brad Menzies. Play in the second and third periods deteriorated due in part to the thirteen penalities called on Port Hope. This number of penalities-result- ed in Port Hope playing short handed for the majority of the periods much to the dismay of fans from Port Hope. Mark Barkey, John Lally, Rob Baker and Dave Burnett (with 2) scored the remaining goals with assists going to Dave Culbert (2), Andrew Steele (2), John Lally (2), Rob Baker, Dave burnett and Mark Barkey. The rushing duo of Bob Goble and Warren Geer along. with Andrew Steele produced a strong defense in front of goalies Steve Whalen and Kevin Cearns for the three games. Port Novice A chalks up 4-1 win Port Perry's J. T. Pearce Auctioneers defeated the Uxbridge Novice team on Friday night with a score of 4 -1. Greg Fitzgerald of Port chalked up the first goal only 22 seconds into the game when he shot one in off of an Uxbridge players stick. The second goal of the first period was on a high corner shot made by Mark Andrews. The second period saw alot of heavy hitting and strong defense work by both teams. Uxbridge scored on a good nlay made by Jason Horton Darren Johnston, the goal by Blair Cook. In the third period Noel Lovering went into net for Port to replace Shawn Larocque. Shawn saw very little action while in, but Noel had to work hard, and made a lot of good saves. Mike Feasby took a pass from behind the blue line off the stitk of Scott Menzies and brokeaway from the Uxbridge players to beat the goalie over the shoulder. With only 20 seconds left in the game Jan Heyes caught his own rebound shot to 'end the game at 4 - 1 in Ports favour.
