February 10, 1982 News from Seagrave and area by Marilyn Beacock Well folks while Old Man Winter continues to pepper us with lots of snow and freezing temperatures it makes it difficult to believe that the first official day of spring is but six weeks away! Can't wait to get the bar-b-q and lawn chairs out but by the look of those drifts in our back yard I don't think I'll need to worry about that or picking any strawberries right away either. On Monday, Feb. 1 the 4-H gals held their first meeting for this session at the Seagrave United Church. They have chosen the "Sea- grave Honey Bun Bakers" as the name for their group. The leaders demonstrated the art of pizza making and the gals quickly demonstrat- ed how quickly they could make them disappear. The girls also expressed regret that Carol Sturman, who has been a member of the 4-H group for several years, will not be joining them for this unit. I wish to sincerely thank the young lady who so kindly telephoned me about the 4-H news. I really appreciate it! I'm sorry to report that our good friend and neighbour, John Ball, has been a bit under the weather this past few days. Hope you're soon on the mend John. ¢ As our minister was away this week-end he made arrangements for daughter Laurie to assume his duties at the three churches in his pastoral charge and I would personally like to extend my compliments to Laurie for the efficient way she handled this responsibility. Hope we can have you back again real soon Laurie! Also an extra treat at the service this Sunday was having Miss Amy-Lynn Wanamaker and Miss Kristi Hutcheon favour the congregation with a delight- ful piano selection and Miss 'Auction Sales FRIDAY FEBRUARY 12 SALE TIME: 6:30 P.M.
