Sh sD I ea ee SEH A iON Al Ss 5 On Feb. 5th, the Malmont Farm Atoms turned in an outstanding performance, when they shut-out Uxbridge 3-0. All three periods were excellent two way hockey with only three penalties being called, two to the visitors and one to Port. It made an exciting and fast game. Ryan and Chris again giving the team their top notch goal tending. Uxbridge goalie was simply outstand- ing in keeping the goals down to three, as he made so many excellent saves on what seemed like sure goals. In the last few games, a distinct improvement by all the defense in clearing the puck from their own end, and with the forwards doing super back checking, certainly has cut down the goals against, so to all the defensemen, Chris, Danny, Jimmy, Mike, Derek and Paul keep up the good work. . Not every passing play will result in a goal, but the three in this game, were results of this type of play. Mike Sorley taking a pass from Clair Cornish opened the scoring early in the first period, on a high shot to the top corner. "The remainder of this period and the second period were scoreless, and it was not until the opening minutes of the third that Clair Cornish carrying the puck from centre ice deep into Uxbridge end, passed to Sean Bradbury, another pass Atoms score 3-0 win over Uxbridge to Daryl Leatherdale and the puck was between the goalies legs, putting Port up by 2. February 10, 1982 -- 27 Blackstock (From page 21) for a visit to the Paula Lishman Studio in Black- stock so the W.I. members and their friends journyed to the Studio. Mrs. Lishman welcomed us and gave a very informative and interesting talk on her work. She told of purchasing the fur hides, preparing, cutting, knitting and etc. to make the finished products. She explained the advantages over other fur products. She showed many completed hats, sweaters, jackets, vests, capes, skirts, and even a double bedspread. The hat can be worn in several ways on the head as well as being used as a neck piece. Some of the finished products were reversible. Mrs. Lishman answered several questions and mentioned that many of their sales go to foreign markets but they use all Canadian fur in their manu- facture. Some of the 2mployees work at the studio while others work in their homes. We are fortunate to have this industry in Black- stock and the W.1. is grateful to Mrs. Lishman for sharing some of the details of her work and showing us the finished articles.
