This programme starts inKindergarten where the half-day programme is conducted in French. The children speak to the teacher in English and the teacher responds in French. Gradually the children make the transi- tion from English to French. The elementary school programme is con- ducted entirely in French from Kindergarten to Grade 3. English instruction begins, at present, in Grade 4 for 90 minutes per day. In successive grades, it is proposed that about half the subjects will be taught in English and halfin French. Transportation to and from the French Immersion schools is the responsibility of the parents, except where the family lives on a regular bus route to an Immersion school.
