Block Parents still need new members The Scugog Block Parents organization is still in need of new members, according to president Claudia_Little. Mrs. Little says currently there are 125 Block Parent homes in the Port Perry area, and another 100 in other parts of Scugog Town- ship. She also says there is a real need at this time for volunteers for the school attendance check program at R.H. Cornish School, which has been operating MARCH - APRIL ECONO PAK MEAL EVERY FRI. Volunteers for this attendance check program do not necessarily have to be Block Parents, according to Mrs. Little. Since this phone check program was started last year, Mrs. Little says there have been several incidents where youngsters who start- ed out for school did not arrive there and the parents had to be notified. On a couple of occasions where Kindergarten children were involved, the police were called as a pre- caution, and happily, the children were found playing near the school. Block Parent homes dis- play the distinctive red and white sign in the front door or window to let youngsters know they can go to that home if they find themselves in any kind of trouble. Mrs. Little says the organization plans to hold a general meeting early in April. Anyone wishing more information, or would like to "join the organization or be- come a. phone check volunteer for the school program should call 985-3375. The ball Park floodlights and poles have been erected and the remainder of the underground wiring will be completed as soon as the frost comes out of the ground. Thanks primarily to the generosity of Lloyd and Marion Lee the financing of the floodlights is completed. The washroom project, however, is just starting and the estimated cost of this endeavour will be $15,000 for materials only. (It is expect- ed that the majority of the labour will be donated). Some donations have already come in for this project and a committee of Rodd Foster, Neil Hunter and Cliff Rodd will be pleased to accept donations for the washrooms etc. project. On Saturday night April 3rd, 1982 a fund raising dance will be held in Green- bank Hall with all receipts going to the Park washroom fund, Geordie and Ruby Beare are collaborating with the Greenbank Gambler Fast- ball Club to present 'Spring Ball in Greenbank Hall".
