The defense of Kim Loudfoot Nicky Beate; Denise Wilson and Jessica helped Jen Pelow te get the shutout by thwarting Oshawa time and - again with their checking. On Sun. Mar. 14, the girls gave it their best shot but were defeated by Whitby 8 to 4. The girls again displayed their fine play but were defeated by the number one team in the league. Scoring again. was shared by all three lines as Michelle, Kerri, Kelly, and Kim each scored. Val and Jenny pick- ed up assists. Jen played a steady game in goal although Port was outshot by a fair margin. Special mention must be made of the hard work in both games by Misty Andrews, Heather Lawrence and Karyn Biffin although they didn't get on the score sheet. March 17, 1962 -- 13 Legion Pee Wees win quarter finals The Port Perry Legion Pee Wees defeated Picton on Friday and Sunday to take "the Quarter Finals. The first goal was scored at 8.57 of the first period on Friday night by Bob Goble assisted by John Harman and Dave Culbert. Picton came back quickly with 2 goals but John Lally tied it up with a goal from Andrew Steele and Dave Burnett, before the end of the first period. John Lally scored again late in the second period from Warren Geer and Dave Culbert. Less than a minute later Dave Burnett gave Port a 2 goal lead from Bob Goble and Brad Menzies. The winning goal was scored by John Harman from Brad Menzies and Steve Durham in the third period. Picton came back with 2 more goals, the final score being 5-4 for Port Perry. 5-2 Final Sunday we travelled to Picton again for the final game. Port came out strong with 2 goals before the end of the first period. Late in the third period Dave Culbert scored from John Lally and Dave Burnett, and Rob Baker put one in the open net from Scott Feasbhy with only 11 seconds left in the game making the score 52. Kevin Cearns played 2 out- standing games in net for Port Perry. The boys had to play strong hockey to beat this team from Picton but after losing the first and third games they came back to win the series.
