Heintzman (formerly Sklar Furniture) is one of Whitby's largest employers and manufactures high quality household furniture. In 1981, Sklar acquired Heintzman Limited, an international name in high quality pianos. Since the joining of talents, Heintzman now produces Baby Grand and upright pianos in a variety of finishes and styles. The donation of the piano recognizes a number of common' elements between Heintzman and the County Town Singers - both are high quality, internationally renowned and Canadian products. The County Town Singers, who were established in 1967 as a centennial project are this year celebrating their 15th anniversary. Earlier this winter, the choir found itself in need of a good rehearsal piano. Without a sufficient supply of funds, the choir made an appeal to the public for assistance to purchase a suitable instru- ment.\ The County Town Singers were thrilled when the Heintzman organization responded to their appeal with such a marvellous donation. The superb tonal quality of this fine instru- ment will enhance the choir's performances for many years to come.
