The weather was perfect during their holiday - they arrived . home in time for Easter. Wedding Celebration On Sunday, Roy and Doris Nottingham attended the Open House held for her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Bray, Fairview Lodge, Whitby, who were celebrat- ing 65 years of married life. The "festivities" were arranged by the family and held in the Auditorium at the Lodge. Over 100 relatives and friends were present to extend their very best wishes. The Devotional opened with the Hymn, "Jesus Christ is Risen, To-day." Mrs. W. Nicholls showed Blackstock The Annual Meeting of the Blackstock W.I. was held in the Town Hall, Wed. Apr. 7th, starting at 12:30 p.m. After the Institute Grace was repeated, a '"'Pot Luck" dinner was enjoyed by the 17 ladies present. The Institute Ode was sung with Mrs. Sleep at the piano, this was followed by the Collect repeated in unison. The minutes of the last Annual meeting were read by Mrs. Samells. The follow- ing reports were then given, - Treas. yearly report by Mrs. R. Bradburn; Auditors report by Mrs. McArthur; Convenors reports by Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Martyn and Mrs. Hoskin; Curator by Mrs. McLaughlin; P.R. by Mrs. McArthur; Sunshine Sec. by Mrs. Kristensen. Mrs. Luke is the delegate to the Officer's Conference. Mrs. Martyn reported that quilt blocks had been received and she will notify the ladies as to the date of the quilting. The Pres. reminded the ladies of the 85th Anniversary of the W.I. and that 2 ladies were eligible to go but their names had to be in before April 30. If any member is able to go please give your name to the Sec. Mrs. Samells, as soon as possible. The Blackstock Fair exhibit was discussed and a few ideas expressed but the matter was left for further discussion at the Executive meeting. The next catering to a Lions Club dinner is Apr. 21. Mrs. S. VanCamp gave information regarding the District Annual Meeting at Bowmanville, May 20. She also announced the Fun Fair at Solina in Oct. There was an invitation from Newton- ville, for two persons to attend . their W.I. 70th Anniversary Celebration May 5th which was accepted. Before the meeting adjourned an executive meeting was planned for Apr. 15, at 9 a.m. at Mrs. Sleeps. Easter slides from the Black Hills Passion Play while Mrs. R. Davidge read the corresponding Scripture verses and an Easter Poem. A playlet entitled "Go and Tell" was presented by Shirley Nicholls, Ruth Davidge and Gwen Malcolm. It underlined the respons- ibility of all women to spread the message of the Resurrection. Mrs. W. Nicholls concluded with a Meditation and Prayer. The Hymn '"'Rejoice the Lord is King' closed this worthwhile devotional. The Roll Call "A favourite Easter poem or Hymn" was well answered. Secretary Mrs. W. Vine read the minutes and corres- pondence. Treasurer Mrs. G. Fish gave the financial summary. An interesting report of Oshawa Presby- terial was given by Mrs. L. Malcolm. During the business portion plans were made for the Spring Concert by "Scugog Island Choir and Friends', sponsored by Nestleton U.C.W. It is to be - held in the Nestleton Comm- unity Centre on Friday, May 7 at 8 p.m. This is a lively, variety entertainment and promises to be a fine evening. For more inform- ation see coming events in the Port Perry Star. A table is to be reserved at the Flea Market in June - for Home Baking and Handi- crafts. Meeting closed with Mizpah Benediction. A delicious lunch consisting of a cheese try, gingerbread and hot beverage was served by the hostess Mrs. R. Davidge assisted by Mrs. W. Nicholls. Mrs. A. Williams voiced the appreciation. Cartwright B. Cubs The annual District Bicycle Rodeo was held on. Saturday morning at Brock High School in Cannington. Five boys from Cartwright attended and some received their Cyclist's Badge. Caesarea Euchre Results A very good attendance and the winners were: First prize - Henry Visser - with a score of 83. Second prize - Thelma McCreight with 80. Low score - Fred Lawrence with 40. Next Wednesday evening as usual for aun exciting time. Lunch is a feature and a social hour enjoyable.
