i iit by Mrs. Earl Reader Even if Spring is late, everyone is in the mood for clean up and those piles of papers are bothering - us. Well, here is the news you've been waiting for. The Cubs and Beavers will be around to collect your tied bundles this coming Sat. Just have them out at the end of your driveway by 10 A.M. What a busy day this Sat. will be! While men and boys are busy, the women of the "Grace U.C.W. will be pre- paring a Hot Luncheon to be held in the Island United Church from 11:30 A.M. to 1 p.m. At the same time women of the "Head" U.C.W. will be across at the Community Hall by 9 a.m. to receive display and sale items and have everything in place for the Art and Craft Show by 12 noon until 4 or 4:30 p.m. When you attend this function you will first be surrounded by Art in different medias of oil, water colours, and pencil as well as a chance to watch a young talented artist at work. As you pass other interested people and continue into the inner Hall you will find a great variety of crafts on display with some being for sale. You may also purchase favourite plants or find cheap items at the flea table. Further on, you will find several demonstrators at work on different kinds of crafts. By 2 p.m. you may enter the kitchen for a choice of home baked foods, jams, pickles etc. Each member of U.C.W. requested to donate 2 labelled items. When you tire from walking around and chatting, you are invited to rest for 'a little while' with refreshments. Now, after the above occasions are over and everything is cleaned away, another Community group will move in to prepare an evening of dancing. If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, please contact Mrs. Pat Gracie 985-2634. After such a-heavy day, many may feel that Church next day is toe much to expect. However, you'll likely find the busiest people there. Many people seem to have forgotten that they are representatives for their organization in the Scugog Social Planning Council and do not attend the monthly meetings. Well, on Tues.: Apr. 27, there will be an open, annual meeting at the Presbyterian Church in Port Perry. It takes the form of a pot luck luncheon at 12:15 p.m. So bring along your favourite dish and see what is happening, as you listen to some business up-dating and hear the guest speaker, Mr. David Brown, the Hospital Administrator. Don't forget this time. Last Fri. another group of Island people and former residents returned from the south, Mr. and Mrs. R. Steer, Con. 6, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Strong, Prince Albert, and Mrs. Reta Rodman of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Martyn had a nice vacation in the south but after returning, Allan suffered much discom- fort from blood poison in his foot. However, the worst is over now and we hope he'll soon be able to get around again. Don Ashbridge's only sister in Toronto has had a complicated illness but with treatments, hopes for complete recovery. Greenbank News by Helen McKean We welcome home Mr. and Mrs. Morley Raines from their Florida vacations. Our Women's Institute are holding the annual meeting at the home of Mrs. David Thomson on Thursday at 2 p.m. All ladies welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cooper, and Mrs. Adelaide McClennon of Sunderland visited Mrs. Marjorie Beaton on Saturday. Many - more new Hymn books were dedicated in Church on Sunday, donated by families and friends of departed loved ones. The afternoon group of U.CW. will have their Thank Offering service on April 25th, The U.C.W. Region 1 Rally will be on May 6th in Sea- grave United Church. On Easter Sunday, Master Bradley Bishop celebrated his first birthday. Gathered for a buffet luncheon were Grandma and Grandpa Bishop of Agincourt, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Elllison and girls of Sarnia, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Treleaven and children of Barrie, Penny children of Barrie, Penny and Kari Fitzgerald of Grandpa McKean. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Walker and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Walker of Hepworth were week-end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. James Tonson. The Heron family from Norwood were dinner guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lee. A del- icious lunch was served by Mary Moore and Ida Hurtig. Later the ladies had an opportunity to browse through Mrs. Heintzman's antique shop and inspect her lovely home. A miscellanous shower was held in Yelverton Church basement on Thurs. evening to honour bride-elect Miss Sharon Kerr prior to her scheduled marriage early in May. Miss Mona Malcolm read a poetic address paying tribute to the honoured guest following which she was presented with a broad assortment of gifts by the approx, 75 ladies present. She was assisted in opening the gifts by two of her sisters, Mrs. June Farrow and Mrs. Kathy Gilles. Sharon expressed her Spprstiation and lunch con- cluded the evening, Brooklin where she attended the Flower shop owned by friends, Nellie and Bruce Still. Mr. Roy Hooker and his brother, Gord have opened a new business "The Hooker Brothers" car sales and repairs in Brooklin. Don and Helen McKean had Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. John Graham in Locust Hill. Children and adults from Epsom, Port Perry, Saint- field, Uxbridge and Green- bank enjoyed the films shown last Saturday at the Greenbank Childrens Theatre in the Greenbank Community Hall.
