We thank them for sharing with us some of their experiences and thoughts. These were Jane Brose, Danny Rodgers, Clay Dempsey and Kelvin Gibson. Also sharing their talent of music was Melanie Bruce, Carla Dempsey and Tracey Elson and they were accompanied on the piano by Denise Gibson. These studies are undertaken to collect infor- mation regarding wetlands and priority areas for future extension services work within the jurisdiction of the Authority. Five summer students have been hired to carry out the study which focus on natural watercourses within the Townships of Bexley, Eldon, Emily, Fenelon, Manvers, Mariposa, Ops, Scugog and Verulam. Since it will be necessary for these people to have access to private lands adjacent to natural water- courses, the Authority would request that all landowners bordering such channels co- - operate in this project. Throughout the course of the summer, Authority staff will be calling on private land- owners to obtain permission for access to properties. We know of three that dis-, appeared by having their ropes cut. However, a car was spotted on the scene and may soon be identified. So if the culprit reads this, he would be wise to slip them back into the mail boxes. On Friday evening the Island United Church was almost filled to capacity for the splendid musical concert. Tho' many people had come from other areas we wondered where the loyal enjoyed a 3 week vacation \ Holland. - Mr. and Mrs. Armou McMillan called on friends in Stouffville on Sunday. Mrs. Marjorie Beaton spent the week-end in Uxbridge visiting with Miss Mabel Beaton and also attended the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hill. Don't forget the opening of your local museum on Satur- day and Sunday May 22-23. The displays are new, some new activities and also some of the traditional ones. So plan to attend and show your support of the people who spend so many hours to make it an enjoyable way to revisit our past. I hope Rev. Redgers doesn't mind my using some of his poetry from the Sunday Church Bulletin but I thought it quite good. A horse can't pull while kicking - this fact I merely mention. And he can't kick while pulling, which is my chief contention. Let's imitate the good old horse and'lead a life that's fitting; Just pull an honest load, and then there'll be no time for kicking. a et AY BOC RAY ip 4 { ERAN SY TESA AL OE I Pei RAN tl Rar YY, Con PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, May 18, 1982 -- 25 Scugog Island Islanders were. Perhaps distant fields appear greener. You would even expect relatives of these talented people, who give so much of their time to produce a concert equal to more expensive present- ations. However, those who do attend are well rewarded and simply cannot express enough appreciation to the 30 or so people who have practised for hours for per- fection. This concert was presented earlier at Nestle- ton and is worthy of more if the participants have the time. It is impossible here to name all the stars who take special parts. The costumes too require much work and imagination. The Jr. choir is expanding and adding much to the show, especially one little boy who loves it, and attends so faithfully. On Sun. Rev. Clarke was back in the pulpit. We were pleased to welcome many strangers who were attend- ing to witness the baptism of little relatives and give Christian support. to the parents. But everything seems to be repaired and recuperation is progressing with a promise of a return home in the near future. It was indeed a shock to hear of the tragic accident in Turkey involving Dr. Allan Lavis and wife of Oshawa and their 2 friends of Whitby. Dr. Lavis was well known thro' the Simcoe St. United Church, as minister and the Oshawa Presbytery.
