{ i Nestleton United Church Women The Nestleton U.C.W. met in the church Tuesday, May 11th at 2 p.m. The pres. Mrs. Mabel Cawker welcomed 16 members and 2 visitors, opening with the U.C.W. hymn and a poem. She also ° voiced appreciation to: members for taking care of so many projects while being indisposed. An interesting worship period was presented by Mrs. Grace Jackson, the theme being, "Surviving Life's Storms'. Passages of Scripture were read from 1st Corinthians and St. Luke, closing with a poem. A favourite hymn was sung and the Lord's Prayer repeated in unison. . Mrs. Muriel Smith - our minister's wife - took members on a trip showing slides of the Holy Land which she and Rev. John Smith toured two years ago. Many beautiful scenes of historic interest were viewed such as Nazareth, Bethlehem, Sea of Galilee - a beauty spot, River of Jordan, Garden of Gethsemane, Mount of Beatitudes 2000 years old- to name a few places of interest. She commented on the tour as we travelled describing vividly the land where Jesus had his ministry. At the close, a gift was presented to Muriel in appreciation for her efforts - by the President. Mrs. Marion Hall and Mrs. Irene McKee who joined recently. Wedding Attended "Bob and Marg. France, Scugog Point, were recent guests at a beautiful wedding held at Bethesda United Church, Don Mills. The lovely bride, Deborah Rand, daughter of Mrs. Margaret H. Rand, Don Mills, ex- changed vows with John Nicol, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nicol; of Markham. They enjoyed the delicious banquet and interesting programme which followed. Weekend guests with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Malcolm were Barry and Joan Malcolm, Simcoe. This past Sunday, dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Malcolm and girls were: Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Allin, Newcastle, Mr. Stanley Malcolm, Port Perry, and Mr. and Mrs. L. Malcolm, of Nestleton. Mr. and Mrs. Grahame Fish, Nestleton, enjoyed Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Byrnell Wylie of Oakwood, who "hosted" a wonderful get-acquainted party for relatives who hadn't been to-gether for many years. After much visiting and catching up on family news, a delicious buffet supper was served to between 50 and 75 relatives. Sunday School Anniversary At Nestleton United Church, Sunday, May 16, 11 a.m. was a special day for the Sunday School as they celebrated the Anniversary with Superindent Robert Mairs capably conducting the service. With Carol Mairs presiding at the organ the service opened with the Processional Hymn, "Come, Children, Join to Sing". The following pupils had a part in the Service. John Smith presented an excellent message to the Sunday School and Benediction was pronounced by Dwight Davis The offering will be used to purchase books and materials for the Sunday School. As these folks commence another year in Nestleton Sunday School may they have much satis- faction out of doing a job well - a special responsibility is theirs - to train, encourage and develop the young people of our community. We congratulate the super- intendent and his staff for their dedication and work. Well done!! Birthday Celebration Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Vine, Nestleton, held a birthday party for daughter, Laurel - who turned 22 on Saturday. Many Vine family relatives and - friends were present, among whom were special guests - Laurel's finance Tom Hansen, brother Carl, and Mother Mrs. Hansen of Epsom, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Bowers of Nestleton. A cake beautifully decorated with all the trimmings added to the festive occasion. A belated "happy birthday"' to Laurel. Caesarea Euchre On Wed. eve. a splendid attendance and the results are: First prize winner - Brenda Phistel with 78. Second prize winner- close behind with Marlene Skinner - 75. Two tied for low prize and was divided - Gayle Pelrine and Doris Rohrer - 49. Next Wed. as usual. Caesarea Community Church Re-Opens The residents of Caesarea will be pleased to hear that "the Caesarea Church is planning to re-open for Service on this coming Sunday, May 23, at 2:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Grant Woodcock of Lindsay. A good attendance is hoped for, and a cordial welcome is extended to all. Welcome Home A warm welcome home from the sunny south to Mr. and Mrs. George Donneral, Nestleton. We are sorry to learn that they will soon be leaving our midst, after 38 years in Nestleton. On June 5th, Mr. and Mrs. Donneral are moving to Leamington, having bought a home there. We will certainly miss them in the village, but our very best wishes go with them to their new home in a lovely part of Ontario.
