10 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday June 1, 1982 Prince Albert couple celebrates anniversary Simcoe Street United Church in Oshawa was the setting for a lovely wedding. on May 20, 1942 when the former Hilda Grace Vickery of Prince Albert and Mr. James Leslie Ralph Beacock of Nestleton somenized their marriage with the Rev. W.J.H. Smythe officiating. Miss Mary Vickery, sister of the bride, was maid-of- honour for this happy oc- casion and Mr. Lloyd Beacock had the distinguished honour of being groomsman for his brother. Now forty years later, this attractive and effervescent couple were guests of honour at a surprise family dinner party on Saturday, May 15, 1982 at Conway GArdens in Port Perry to celebrate this most memorable milestone in their lives. Many of the guests present were also privileged to have attended the wedding dinner some forty years previous. Hosting this gala celebration were sons Don and his wife: Marilyn, of Seagrave; Grant of Brooklin and Bryan and wife Judy of Shirley Road. Also in attendance were Les and Grace's four grandsons Lee, Blair, Craig and Philip Beacock. Following the delicious roast beef dinner their brother-in-law Mr. Thomas Cole delivered a very ap- propriate toast to the "bride and groom" and also ex- pressed regret that Mr. Lloyd Beacock, Miss Olive Beacock, Mrs. Genevieve Cole and Mrs. Margaret Tarves were unable to be present due to illness. Acting as M.C. for the remainder of the evening, Mr. Cole called upon Mr. Laverne Devitt to provide some reminiscings concer- ning the happy couple's Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock early life together. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Beacock and Mr. Don Beacock entertained the guests with some very ap- propriate poems and reminiscings. Mr. Grant Beacock accompanied him- self with the guitar and ren- dered a couple of beautiful numbers. Mrs. Marilyn Beacock recited a very humorous poem, compiled by herself for this particular occasion, entitled "Forty Years of Memories" and presented the booklet to her parents-in-law. Their cake constructed in the shape of entwining hearts and beautifully decorated by Mrs. Karen Tindall was presented to Les and Grace by their four grandsons. At the completion of the entertainment, best wishes for many more years of hap- piness were extended to the happy and delightfully sur- prised couple. Both Grace and Les in their inimitable style graciously expressed their appreciation to all for the memorable evening. Les and Grace were the happy recipients of many beautiful "40th" momentos as well as receiving many callers and cards bearing good wishes for continued health and happiness. Their sons, wives and grandsons presented their parents with a ruby money tree. Guests present for this happy occasion arrived from Lindsay, Oshawa; Brooklin, Seagrave and Port Perry. On Tuesday, May 11, 1982 Les and Grace were honoured by the members and wives of the Sportee-Q Club. together was held at the home of Fred. and Aileen Olsen of Prince Albert.
