Both Peter and Jennifer made outstanding contributions to high school sports, and both are graduating this spring. Peter Stone and Jennifer Simmonds were named the top athletes of the year as Port Perry High School held its - annual sports banquet last Wednesday evening. Both students are in grade "13 this year and throughout high school have been very active in numerous sports at the inter-mural and inter school. Along with being named top athletes of the year, Peter and Jennifer won indi- vidual awards for basket- ball. The other individual awards for specific sports went to the following: Richard Holy, soccer; Sarah Johnson, Gymnastics; Scott Sinclair, Hockey; Kira Cope, volleyball; Brett Oosterman, volleyball; Kelly Kasper, field hockey; Jennifer Simmonds, basketball; Peter Stone, basketball, Karen 'McKelvey, archery; Vaughan .McKee and Judy Brinkman, track and field; and Rob Huggins, wrestling. . Robert Fondan and Kelly Kasper were selected from the school to attend a two week leadership camp to be held this summer at Lake Couchiching. Oshawa squad finds local diamond to its liking Goreski's Insulation must have found the Port Perry diamond to their liking as they blanked Lindsay 5-0 in fastball action at the water- front park last Friday evening. It was the first of eight Friday night games Goreski's will play in Port Perry as part of their schedule in the Oshawa Fast- ball loop. Russ Korbak nailed down the win with a strong per- formance on the mound, as he gave up just two hits to the Lindsay batters. Korbak didn't do himself any harm at the plate either, as he connected for two hits.
