In the mens 18' 6" racing canoe event over 20 miles from the Waterfront and back, there were four entries and the team of Bill Haynes of Port Perry and Elwood Stewart of Oshawa emerged as winners with a time of 2:32:42, a full six minutes ahead of the second place team of Phil Johnson and Reg Healey. The best time of the day over the Nonquon and Lake Scugog course was turned in by the father-son team of Rudy and Clint Jammer with a time of 3:12:01 in the Mens Resident class. That was about nine minutes off the record in that class. Second spot in the mens resident 'went to Kopi DeJong and Barry McClure - with a time of 3:25:15.
