Scugog Community Care is a registered charitable organization and we are able to issue official receipts for income tax purposes. We do receive grants from the Provincial Government via Community and Social Services, and the Ministry of Health. The local Council also supports us with a grant of $1,650 for the current year; but we still need to raise about $1,500. One of our Fund-raising projects is a Raffle. Prizes have been donated and will 'be displayed in Brock's window during Senior Citizens' week. We shall also be having displays at the Blackstock and Port Perry Fairs - so look out for them. The draw will take place at the Port Perry Fair Grounds on Labour Day. We would like to salute and thank all our volunteers who perform services throughout the year. More volunteers are needed to serve our 172 clients, or to serve on the advisory Board or one of its committees - Fundraising and publicity. The past Chairman, Mrs. Marion Larmer said in her annual report: "Scugog Community Care continues because of the satisfaction of developing the home support * system, providing services to help seniors and others in special need - helping them to live in their own home or apartment. Our 'support' allows them to retain a sense of personal dignity, to keep their present social contacts and to control their own lives."
