Five students under the guidance of artist Alec Neveroff have formed an oil painting class in Port Perry. This group of enthusiastic Senior Citizens originally signed up for art classes with the Y.M.C.A. in Port Perry where Mr. Neveroff is an instructor. From there a desire grew for lessons in oil painting. Now, on clear days, the group meets to paint. local scenes in Port Perry for several hours and receive lessons from Mr. Neveroff on such basics as how to do a sketch and the set up and start of a painting. One student, Jo Dowson of Port Perry, says she loves the class and told the Star she has had a studio byilt in her home to accommodate her interest. Other members also enjoy Big Brothers of North Durham announced last week the judge's decision in the '"Name the Piggie" contest. The two prize winners are '"'Cut and Wrap" and "Bacon Buddy' by Mary VanKessel of Port Perry. 'Cut and Wrap" will be on display at the Big Brother booth during Spring Water Days in Uxbridge.
