Chamber of Commerce spearheads project PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday July 20, 1982 -- 3 New Scugog brochure a real ""eye-catcher"' "The Township of Scugog. A nice place to live; a nice place to visit." That's the theme of a new 32 page information booklet recently completed by the Scugog Chamber of Commerce, after almost six months in the planning and production stages. The booklet contains a wide variety of information promoting Scugog Township and the amenities for those who make thier home here or simply come for a visit. There is everything from the history of the area, shopping, industry, farming, recreation and sport, comm- unity and social services, clubs and associations, churches and schools, points of interest for residents and - Scugog Chamber of Commerce president Miriam Price displays copy of the recently completed booklet promoting Scugog Township as a place to visit and work. There are numerous black and white photos throughout the booklet, and there is a montage of photos on both the inside front and back covers. On the frent cover is a full colour aerial photo of Port Perry which shows much of the community, Lake Scugog and the Island of the same manner. Chamber of Commerce president Miriam Price said she is pleased with the book- let and the kind of informa- tion it presents. She called .the front cover an "eye- catcher," which "makes you want to pick up the booklet and have a look through it." The booklet was designed to up-date and replace the old Chamber of Commerce brochure, which was fin- ished about five years ago. The cost of $9000 for print- ing of the 10,000 copies of the new booklet was split three ways with $3000 in a grant from the municipality; a similar amount from the Chamber of Commerce and the remainder from adver- tising within the booklet. The booklet is aimed at visitors to the community and is now available at the Township office, several stores in Port Perry, Infor- mation Scugog, and it will be going to tourist booths in Durham Region and the surrounding districts. A second project by the local Chamber of Commerce should be complete in the not-too-distant future. This is the production of colour post- cards depicting four scenes from Scugog Township. When completed, these post cards will be sold in the Township.
