Dr. Cliffton MacKay was the minister last Sunday morning at Burns Church and his message was entitled "One Persons Influence'. Florence Ashton sang a beautiful solo, 'In times like these" accompanied by her son Arnold at the organ. Dr. MacKay will be here with us next Sunday but it will be his last for this year. We are all enjoying Dr. MacKays messages. We are sorry to learn that Mrs. Russell Batten had the misfortune to break her hip and is in Oshawa hospital. We all wish her a speedy recovery. MANAGER i Port Perry artist David Smith just recently finished a coloured poster of the old steamship Phoebe, of Kingston, Ontario. Smith was commissioned by the Steam Museum of Kingston to do the drawing to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Rideau Canal. The Phoebe, which has been fully restored, was used this summer in the re-enactment of Colonel By's journey through the Rideau Canal after its completion in 1831. Mr. Smith is seen here with a copy of the poster which is on sale in the Ottawa-Kingston area as well as area art galleries. It is also available at the Ronden Art Gallery, Oshawa, or by contacting Mr. Smith at Dirt biker injured A 20 year-old Cannington man, Mark Alexander, fractured his left leg while trail riding Sunday, July 25. Police report his bike over- - turned while climbing a hill - at Test Hill on Durham Road 57 south near the 1st Con- cession. Mr. Alexander was taken to Port Perry Hospital for treatment. No charges have been laid. . Variety camp The Durham Region Family YMCA has openings available in August for Variety Camp. This camp teaches English and Western Riding and Theory. Programs also include Archery, Swimming Tennis and an overnight cook out and camp out. The camp is located at Rolling Hills Ranch north of Raglan and is serviced by buses in Whitby and Oshawa.
