A clip here, a cut there Fido gets the x treatment Is Fido starting to look a bit ragged around the edges? Maybe he needs a little professional polish; a clip and a cut here or there. Maybe Fido should see Mary Lynn Risebrough of Blackstock who operates a Doggie Salon where dogs (and cats) will be brushed, bathed, clipped and shaved; all in the name of beauty and better health; all for a fee of course, depending on the size of the dog or cat. Mrs. Risebrough operates out of her home in Black- stock and says she has been in the business for one and one-half years. She was. trained in the fine art of canine grooming and clipping by Ann Mees, who operates a dog salon in Utica. "i've done our dogs for the past eight years," said Mrs. Risebrough. Has she ever been bitten? "No, but it was close,' she laughed, adding, "There's the odd dog who won't co- 'operate, some won't get into the tub." Mrs. Risebrough said that generally people take good care of their pets, but some bring their dogs in looking a mess. She stressed the importance of grooming your animal and says that owning three dogs herself has kept her in good practice. The Doggie Salon is busiest during the months of April to June. Generally, Mrs. Risebrough grooms three to four dogs a day but has spent an entire day on one animal, The whole treat- ment might include a pre- bath brushing, a bath using a special conditioning flea shampoo that is bought from the local vet, a blowdry and haircut, nails and ear hair clipped and if you - really want to go all out, hair and tail bows can be used. The works is comparable in price to professional salons be- cause Mrs. Risebrough doesn't want to 'rip people off." An animal lover of even the most cranky canine, Mrs. Risebrough said, 'You get lots of muscle from doing this kind of work." o Lc omK RN, H 3 ge The Finished Product!
