The Registered Beef Show on Sunday had over 200 animals and the following Hereford - Grant Elmhurst; Best Herd Angus - Ross Bailey; Best Herd Short- horns - Spring Grange Farm; Best Herd Charolais - Michael Ormiston; Best Herd Siminental - Glen Hughes. The Goat Show had their first show this year and was very well represented with 58 entries. An excellent fiddle show took place Sunday afternoon, winners were: 18 years and under - Wayne Ferguson; 19-59 - David Rowland; 60 and over - Audrey Gilmour; Open - Ruby Reed; Youngest - 6 years - Danny Mundell; For the first time in the history of the Port Perry Fair, there was a goat competition this year. Hanover Hill Holsteins of Port Perry made an impressive showing with several awards. [See stories for results] : were top winners: Best Herd Port Perry's Fall Fair a success Oldest - 75 years - George Gagne. The Baby Show -had 51 entries and the winners were: Girl up to 6 months - Kristyn Matthews; Boy up to 6 months - Joshash Windsor; Girl up to 7-12 months - Kimberley Brain; Boy up to 7-12 months - Darryl Dalton; Twins - Lisa and Racheal Bergerson. A very good log sawing contest was held with the following winners: Mixed couples - Ken and Sharon Cochrane; Men - Art Flieler, Ken Cochrane; Ladies - Jan Flieler, Lu Flieler; Boys - Kelly Church, Roy Mystek; Girls - Michelle Flieler, Myrne Flieler. : A heavey registration in all classes of horse shows was noted - Junior Gymklana Horse show - Jill Keith Highpooint Jr. Rider, Mother Jackson Open Kitchen Ltd, Perpeturl Trophy; Junior Horse Show - Linda Hamer riding Zepher won the Shelly -Houthuy Memorial Trophy for the 3rd year in a row. Pleasure Horses - Linda Hamer riding Zepher won the Port Perry Pleasure Horse Championship Trophy donated by the Ontario Trail Riders Association ded- icated to preserving the natural trails of Ontario for multiple use. Light Horses - Cindy and Sandra Nighswander successfully showed their American Saddlebreds. Gerald Henry and Thomas Duff successfully showed their Shetland Ponies. The Horse Draw was won by - Light Draft - John Lawrenson; Heavy Draft - Leroy Nesbitt. The Heavy Horse Show was well attended. All Breeds 4 Hitch - Donald Robertson; Wagon Horse Team. - Light - Ruby Cochrane; Wagon Horse Team - Heavy - Murray Heath; Best Lady - Lorna Davey. Also an excellent Holstein Show was held with a heavy registration and judged by Doug Blair, President of Western Breeders, Balzac, Alberta. Bob Simpson Trophy - Hanover Hills; Master Feeds Trophy - Hanover Hills; Sunderland Co-op - Phoenix Bros. ; Flett- dale - Hanover Hills; Royal Bank - Hanover Hills; Premier Exhibition - Hanover Hills; Premier Breeder - Hanover Hills; Ontario County Holstein Special - Champion Male - Rod McKay; Jr. Champion Female - Phoenix Brothers; Highest Placing 3 year old - Roybrook Farm; Highest Placing 4 year old - High Point Farm; Highest Placing Mature Cow in Milk - Highview Holsteins; High- est Placing 5 year old - Phoenix Brothers. Market Steers judged and sold at Fair: 16 excellent Steers were judged and auctioned at Port Perry Fair on Saturday at very high prices. The judge was Harry Zacks of Norwood and Auctioneer was Bruce Wood- row. Grand Champion steer, owned by Clare Bagshaw, Cannington was sold to Windcrest Farms Ltd. for 96 cents per pound. Second - Jack Short, Seagrave. to Peterborough Packers for 88 cents per pound. Third - Doug Crozier, Scugog to Crown Packers, Toronto for 91 cents per pound. Fourth - Doug Anthony, Scugog to Pine Ridge (Turnto page 13) There was plenty of action and grace in the horse competition with a large number of entries in the Western and English divisions.
