Slo-Pitch tournaments. This team was put together just this year and has played in only five tournaments, winning Playoff places not decided yet Assured of a second place finish in league standings, Goreski's fastball club is waiting the outcome of games this week to determine who the opponent will be in the opening round of the playoffs. Goreski's final game of the year was played Tuesday night against Mother's Pizza, a team which could finish fourth. If so, the two teams will clash in the first playoff round. Over the weekend, Goreski's finished fourth in a 24 team Labour Day tournament held in Barrie, winning four games and losing two. Russ Korbak won three games and lost two, including the final 3-2 loss to Barrie. Ken Goreski won one game, but in a 2-0 loss to Streetsville he pitched nine scoreless innings. Korbak came on in relief in the tenth and was tagged with the loss as Streetsville picked up two runs. League playoffs likely to start next week with Goreski playing its home games in Port Perry. In our first tour in Beaverton we were put out in the Consolation semi-final by a team from Uxbridge. The Krazies hosted their own event in Nestleton earlier in the summer and lost the Consolation final. We went out in two straight in Oshawa due to a lack of players as only ten showed up to perform. Blackstock biggest test was in Etobicoke where we played in an 0.V. tourn- ament consisting of 54 teams in the 'DD' division. The second here was four wins and two losses with the second loss being a forfeit as three players got lost and arrived too late for us to play. As a result of this, we finished in 7th place and received some travelling money. On September 4 and 5th, we travelled to Peter- borough to participate in our second O.V. Regional tournament where we faired better than in the other 4 tournaments. The first game Saturday morning, showed the Krazies to be a strong contender as they downed Ted's Place of Peterborough by a 20-1 score. This fine offensive performance was led by Dave Dalton with two home runs and Ron Short with a double and a triple. The Krazies second game was a whitewash as they massacred the Orillia Lake- side Motel 11-0 in 5 innings. Phil Kinton, Dave Dalton, Greg Gouldburn, and Brian Wo Iy x S$ PORT PERRY JUNIOR C - MOJACKS - Dalton all went 3 for 3 at the plate as the Krazies managed 19 hits. Jude Cassidy's pitching backed by his defensive mates only allowed 5 hits. The boys had to come back in their next game to win as they out battled Peter- borough's Jeff Purvey by an 11-7 score. The Krazies entered the third inning ahead by 3-0, but on three errors found themselves down 6-3. In the fifth, they battled back with 7 runs to take a 10-6 lead with clinch hitting coming from Ron Short and Cassidy. Ron Wagg hit a solo home run in the seventh to make it 11-6 before Purvey's got their final run. Two outstanding defensive plays preserved the win for the Krazies with the first being an excellent catch in deep centre by Brian Dalton who had to run down a long curving line drive. The second play came on a deep passed ball to left field where Dave Dalton chased it down to relay to Keith Dalton who in turn fired it home to Ron Wagg for the tag at the plate. Blackstock received a bye through the quarter final and met Ackinson Electric Sunday morning. They came out on the short end of a 2-0 score for their first loss of the weekend. To get back into the final, the guys had to beat Raybestos Phillies by 4-2. The Krazies had a bit of a nervous time in the bottom of the seventh as the Phillies scored one and had runners at second and third before the final out was made. The final had the Krazies up against Ackinson again and again they lost this time by a 4-1 score stranding nine base runners. It should be noted that this team had a couple of Spaghetti House players who are of '¢' division calibre while the Krazies are 'DD'. As an example the short stop assisted on 7 put outs in the final game alone. The opening game for the Krazies in the Provincials will be at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Palmer Park no.3 vs. T.N.T. The goal by Jamie Cannon was in the last 5 minutes. Great effort by all but super positional play by Paul Carr and Mark DeWolde. August 26 A.T.J. Industrial Tools - 2 Homans - 4 The centres and forwards really had to hustle after the ball. Good defence by Dale Leask and Kevin Jones help- ed goalie Brad Puckrin keep the score down. ATOM TOURNAMENT IN WHITBY September 4 Scugog - 2 St. Catherines - 3 Jamie Brown scored our two goals before half time. The opponents came on strong to score the winning goal with a penalty kick. Scugog - 1 Uxbridge - 4 Scugog scored first but couldn't hold the lead. We had some good chances and there was excellent play by the midfield Alex Cranmer, Clair Cornish and Danny Sluggett. Scugog - 4 Whitby - 0 The boys played well together against Whitby. It was a scoreless first half with goals in the second half by Michael Butt (2), Jason Towns and Alex Cranmer.
