I .,e,o. o SALE NOW Patrick is not your average Patrick is not vour average tabbv In fact, thr _cc cat of Mrs. Agnes Garvey of Queen Street in Port Perry is some- thing of a celebrity with the neighbourhood kids. , And from time to time, complete strangers show up at Mrs. Garvey's apartment door, asking if they can let their children have a look at Patrick. Patrick, who was born March 17, 1975, started out as "a pretty ordinary cat. And then he started to grow. He kept growing and growing, to the point where he now tips the scales at a hefty 37 pounds. We are not sure if that is close to a feline record, but Patrick is one very large cat. Stretched out on the floor of the living room in Mrs. Garvey's apartment, Patrick hardly looks like a cat at all. Mrs. Garvey chuckles when she says "a lot of people don't believe he's a cat at first. They think he's a dog." Mrs. Garvey does say that Patrick has "a prétty good - pussy-cat appetite." He likes chicken and scotch broth, but he's not over-fed and he doesn't get table scraps. Patrick is strictly a house cat, content to while away the hours snoozing in the dog basket which is his bed. "He used to be active when he was a kitten, but now he likes to take it easy," says Mrs. Garvey. Mrs. Garvey takes delight in telling the story of the man who was painting the outside of the apartment. He saw Patrick perched on the table in front of the window, and when he realized it was a cat, he nearly fell off the ladder. Patrick is an easy going fellow. Not too much ruffles him, and when he's in the mood, he can be playful. Will Patrick, the white tabby with the orange mark- ings continue to get bigger and bigger? Mrs. Garvey isn't sure. And Patrick doesn't seem to mind being a bit of a celebrity with the neighbour- hood kids just so long as they don't interrupt his naps when he's dreaming happily of that next chicken dinner.
