LEE The Malmont Farm Atoms played two league games and a exhibition game last week. Once again the Green Machines came through without a loss. On Sunday, November 16, the Atoms travelled to Oak- ridges for a league game. As in previous games this was all one sided with Port win- ning by a score of 10-1. Oakridges scored first after only 2 minutes of play. The score remained 1-0 until the 5:18 mark when a shot from Jan Heyes tied the game. The assists came from Danny Sluggett and Mike Feasby. Two minutes later on a pass from Mark Andrews, Clair Cornish broke the tie. With just over two minutes left in the first period, Jarret Harmon gave the Green Machines a 3-1 lead with the assist going to Clair Cornish. Clair Cornish opened up the scoring in the second period with Jeff Mills and Jarret Harmon earning the assist. Less than two min- utes later Jarret Harmon put the puck in the net after a super passing play from Clair Cornish and Sean Brad- bury. With only four seconds left Clair Cornish earned a hat trick by scoring the sixth goal of the game. Jarret Harmon and Jeff Mills were credited with the assists. Four more goals were scored by Port in the third period. Jeff Mills scored first on a pass from Sean Brad- bury and Jarret Harmon. Jan Heyes scored the next two goals earning himself a hat trick. Danny Sluggett assisted on both these goals with Chris Legere and Mike Feasby also picking up assists. On a pass from Mike Feasby, Jeff Mills scored the last goal of the game. On Friday, November 19, the Atoms played an exhib- ition game against a team from Ajax, winning 12-1. The Green Machines had full control of the game through- out the three periods. The Green Machines finally met their match and the fans were rewarded by seeing the best game so far this year. Jan Heyes opened up the scoring early in the first period on a goal assisted by Chris Legere and Danny Sluggett. As the game pro- gressed, the Green Machines found themselves losing as Unionville scored two goals. The first period ended with a score of 2-1 for the visiting team. Both teams played excellent all through the second period giving the goaltender lots of action. An electrifying goal by Jeff Mills half way through the second period tied the game. Danny Maw and Danny Sluggett were credited with Petites gain 3-3 tie with Whitby On Saturday, November 20, the Bruton's I.D.A. Petites travelled to Whitby and came home with a 3-3 tie. All of the new girls played up on the forward line which was a new experience for most of them. They all played very well. After being down by a score of 2-0, Heather Lawrence received a beautifully placed pass from Denise Wilson which found the corner of the net to beat the goaltender. Vicky Schryburt passed the ring to Jenny Blanchard which re- sulted in our second goal. In the third period, Heather received a pass from Jen Pelow and scored the typing goal. Nicky Beare, playing in net, made some good saves. The defence, led by Jen Pélow, Melissa Moehring, and Michelle Beare, all play- ed well. On Sunday, November 21, a Petite team from Mariposa team travelled to Port Perry for an exhibition game and went home with a 5-1 loss. Mari- posa opened the scoring very early with a shot up in the corner of the net. The play was quickly taken back to the Mariposa end where Nicky Beare picked up the ring at the blue line and carried it in to beat the goal tender with a nice shot. Kelly Calloway assisted by Heather Lawrence scored the second goal. Jenny Blan- chard and Kerri Allen each scored a goal in the second period. Misty Andrews scored the last goal of the game. Jen played a good game in goal. It is nice to see Denna, Kim, Brenda, Vicki and Jackie becoming more involved in the play. All girls played well in this game.
