He Christmas Once there was a boy and a girl who never were allowed to celebrate Christmas. The next year they ran away from home and were plann- ing on coming back. Then the Christmas they were still gone. When Christmas eve they had to cut down a tree. Then they found a tree and cut it down then they dragg- ed it back to where they lived. Then they had to dec- orate the tree. By the time they were finished decorat- ing they were getting hungry, so they cooked up some nice hot soup. When they were finished they went separate ways in to the woods to find some kinds of gifts for each other. When they met back where they camped, they put the pre- sents under the tree. December 21, 1982 A Christmas Mystery Chrystal and Bess were on a "Christmas vacation' and all of a sudden, a lady came screaming down the slushy street! '"What's the matter with her?" asked Bess as she and the sandy-blonde fifteen year old Chrystal Parker ran after her. "Let's see' replied Chrystal to her fourteen year old brunette chum Bess Nelson. The woman fell flat on her face tired out from running. Chrystal and Bess picked up the thirty year old woman and told her their names and asked what had happened. "My daughter, sh-she's gone" the woman sobbed. 'Did she run away?' asked Bess as she handed her a hankerchief. "No" replied the woman. "I heard her scream and when I got there she was gone". Did you see anybody running down the street?' asked Chrystal. "No" replied the woman. "Tell us your name, maybe we'll find your daughter" said Chrystal as she patted the woman's shoulder." Mrs. Smith, will you really help find my daughter?" asked Mrs. Smith as she smiled. "Of course' laughed Chrystal and Bess. They looked around but found no footprints. '"What a poor start" groaned Bess. 'Keep on looking for clues', sighed Chrystal. Chrystal was looking over a stair and heard a voice call- ing "mommy help!' "Mrs. Smith" called Chrystal. Mrs. Smith came rushing down stairs! '"What did you find?" asked Mrs. Smith in grief. "Listen" Chrystal. 'Mommy' called a faint voice. 'Grace' cried Mrs. Smith anxiosly. "She can't hear you, you fool" said a harsh voice. 'My Grace' weeped Mrs. Smith as she cried upon Chrystale's soft shoulder. '""We'll get her, don't worry" comforted Bess. '"Let's listen a bit more"' said Chrystal. So they listened for a solid hour until they heard Grace weep again. "What do you want from me? asked Grace as they heard her weep more and more". "I want you to tell me where your dear mommy keeps her valuables' replied the voice. '"'But it's Christmas and mommy won't be able to buy me a present to show she loves me like Santa" sobbed Grace. "Your a devil' said a voice behind" him. "Santa you heard me!" cried Grace as she jumped up! "I don't believe in Santa though' said a man in a wicked voice. Then the police came out from behind Santa and little Grace ran toward Santa (since the police untied her) and got a big kiss! The End. Paige Rowlands Grade 4 R.H. Cornish P.S.
