December 21, 1982 Two ties, close action in Non contact games Galley Fish and Chips - 2 Gregory's Mens Wear - 2 Galley Fish and Chips and Gregory' Ss Mens Wear fought in game number 1 to a 2-2 tie. Gregory's got on the board with four minutes into the game when Jody Peters scored from Lee Steves and Kelly Lee. Two minutes later, Galley's Richie Lefort tied the game at one when he took a fine pass from Rod Jones. In the second period Galey went ahead when Tony Jetten scored from Glen Hudson and Richie Lefort. Due to a penalty Galley had to play short handed for three minutes and player Dale Bronson popped one in for the Mens Wear team to give them a tieing goal. Dave Bourgeois being constistent as he is set up another tieing goal. The final score was Galley 2, Gregory's 2. Goal- tenders for game one were Scott Sinclar for the Mens Wear and Barry Johnson for the Galley. B.J. Donuts - 5 Compton Cable T.V.-2 Wih four quick goals in the first B.J. Donuts defeated Compton Cable T.V. 5-2. Ken Toms put the Donuts team on the board at the 18:00 mark in the first follow- ed by goals from Phil Walm- sly, Rick Olaison and Ken Toms. This gave B.J. Donuts a 4-0 lead then John Robert- son put one in for Compton. In the first period Phil Walmsley added two assists and Steve Gryills also added two. assists in the first. Compton's goal was assist- In the second period B.J. Donuts cooled down as they Pee Wee B's strong showing by Val Menzies Port Perry Pee Wee B's took part in a tournament in Beaverton on Saturday. With teamwork and determin- ation, Port earned a place in the championship game. In this game, Port Perry was nipped at the hands of Wood- ville by a score of 4-3. In spite of the loss, Port supplied their fans with nail biting hockey in the final match. In the first game, Port met Uxbridge. The game was no contest with the final score 6-0 for Stone Realty. Keith Roberge opened the scoring in the first period assisted by Ian Smith. the Stones really came to life in the second period with three unanswer- ed goals. Keith Roberge accounted for two giving him a hat trick, the first assisted by Greg Stapleton and Ian Smith, and the second un- assisted. Derek Fitzgerald potted the next one, assisted by Jimmy Vernon. Jimmy is becoming quite a play maker, setting up several goals in the last few games. In the last period, Port added two more goals. Davis Watts scored assisted by Derek Fitzgerald and Jimmy Ver- non. Jimmy Vernon did it himself on the last goal with ~ Ian Smith and Davis Watts picking up the assists. The second game found the Stohes opposing the host team. Jeff Oke opened the scoring for the Stones assist- ed by Jamie Menzies and Greg Fitzgerald. Jimmy Vernon got Ports second goal with Jamie Menzies again getting an assist. In the final frame, Beaverton got two but before the fans got too worried Davis Watts got his second goal, once again assisted by Jimmy Vernon. Keith Roberge salted the game away for Port with the final tally of the match. Assists went to Jeff Oke and Ian Smith. Davis Watts was awarded "mast valuable for- ward" of the game. Best defenseman was Greg Stapleton and best goalie was Port's Brent McMillen. Congratulations boys! Special mention should be made to Jimmy Vernon who in the first two games got 2 goals and 4 assists. The championship game promised to be a good one, pitting Port against league rivals from Woodville and no one watching the match was disappointed. Davis Watts put Port ahead assisted by Jimmy Vernon. Jeff Oke gave Port a 3-0 lead by adding two more, one in each of the first and second periods. Both goals were assisted by Ian Smith. In the first two periods, Port out- played Woodville but just couldn't hang on in the third. The Stones had a six minute lapse at the end of which Port found themselves in a tie game. The Stones came back to life and had several chances but couldn't put it home. With 46 seconds to go in the game, Woodville broke - the tie. The Port Perry players all played well in the tourna- ment but some of the boys picked up more points than others. Mention must be made of Jeff Oke with 3 goals one assist, Ian Smith with a whopping 5 assists, Davis Watts with 4 goals and 1 assist, Jimmy Vernon with 2 goals and 5 assists and Keith Roberge with four goals. Good work boys. The Stone Realty team should be proud of their tournament play thus far. In the second period J&D fired back with three quick goals from Wayne Fox, Reid Stainton, and Randy Prosser. Bryan Norton got two assists and Jim Duncan and Jim Fowler got one assist each. At this point the score is 3-2 for J&D Car- pentry. Then the Cards went into action scoring three goals in the last five minutes. John Delorme scored the first one that was unassisted then Ken Little fired one by J&D Car- pentry goaltender, that was assisted by Randy Knight. Russ Heffering put the icing on the cake when he scored on an empty net with 18 seconds to play in the game. Henry Forderer got the assist. Doug Bache and Scott Davis got the assists. Ron Thomson put another one up on the board to give Sportsland a 2-0 lead. Tim Carry and Doug Brown counted for the assists. Tont Turner got Crandells on the scoreboard at the 8:53 mark in the first. Tont Turner then fired another one by Sportsland goalie as the assist went to Russ Baird. In the second the teams traded goals. At the 17:33 mark Brian Samis gave Sportsland the go ahead goal then Bruce Smith tied it back up from Bill Hurst and Al Bonner. At the 5:49 mark Sportsland went ahead again by a goal from Doug Brown, 49 seconds later Bruce Smith tied it up as Bill Hurst and Don Harper received the assists. Final score was Sportsland 4, Crandells Riverboat 4.
