December 21, 1982 -- 5A Pee Wee A's whip Uxbridge It was an important two points for The Port Perry Legion Pee Wee A's on Fri- day night when they defeat- ed Uxbridge 7-1. The remain- ing four games will be equally important if they are to remain ahead of Uxbridge in the standings, they will have to face three strong teams, the first will be a rematch with Uxbridge after the Xmas holidays. For the first ten minutes of play, Uxbridge skated and played with real authority, and it looked like Port was going to be in trouble, but a unassisted short handed goal by Warren Geer at the 5:04 mark seemed to inspire our guys. At the 11:51 mark of the second Geer found the open corner for his second goal after taking a pass from Menzies, Chuck Reaman left a wide open net when he came out to challenge Lally on a breakaway 1:31 later with Geer and Traves assist- ing. Uxbridge scored their only goal before Lally scored his second of the game assisted by Traves. Port increased their lead in the third by adding three more goals, Geer and Menzies combined in assisting Mike Sorley then Geer popped in his 3rd and 4th of the game with Connors, Bailey, Feasby and Menzies each picking up assists. Ballingall had a mighty fast glove hand and played a key role in holding Uxbridge off the scoreboard while Port had three players in the penalty box. The remainder of the period was scoreless After taking 8-5 loss in Woodville ending a somewhat physical game at 7-1. The Pee Wee A's will be playing in the Markham Tourney over the Xmas hol- idays, our next home game will be on Jan. 7th at 9 o'clock when they will host Stouffville. The Pee Wees had their Xmas party last Saturday evening at yours truly home, hopefully the team and their parents enjoyed themselves and you will notice the players and coaches are sporting new hats. Merry Christmas Everyone. Petites dump Oshawa team 15-3 On Saturday, December 18, 1982 the Bruton's 1.D.A. Petites travelled to Wood- ville for an exhibition game and lost by a score of 8-5. This was a fast skating end to end game. Dénise Wilson opened the scoring for Port unassisted. Jenny Blanchard scored the next two goals assisted by Nicole Slack and Denise. Melissa Moehring scored the fourth goal assist- ed by Nicole. Jenny scored the last goal unassisted. The girls all played well in this cold arena. Later on Saturday after- noon the girls played the Oshawa 'B' team and won by a score of 15-3. Nicky Beare, in goal, had very little work to do, but did make a few stops. The defence of Melissa Moehring, Brenda Pédirier, Denise Wilson and Misty Novice All-stars lose 2-1 squeaker by Elaine Larocque The J.T. Pearce Auction- eers were defeated Friday night in a very close game against Stouffville. Stouffville was first on the scoreboard at the 8:09 mark of the first period. They took control of the play through- out the period but the Auctioneers worked hard to keep them from scoring again. Stouffville picked up a tripping penalty early in the second. Port took advantage and Jason Cochrane scored for the Auctioneers to tie the game. Jeff Parry and Duane Empringham were awarded the assists. \peemmem--y TROPHIES] and ENGRAVING | NOs!
