Cawker Christmas News Miss Ruth Proutt enjoyed Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Proutt of Nestleton. Mrs. Ivan Proutt of Nestleton spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. John Buchan, Carolyn and Douglas of Lindsay. Mark and Linda Shaw and son Jason of Victoria, B.C. are visiting with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Shaw of Nestleton for a week during the Christmas season. Harold and Marie Crawford, Nestleton, "hosted" their family on Christmas Day. All members were present to enjoy the oc- casion - their eldest son and wife - Ben and Heather Crawford, Tracy, Sarah and Shawn of Oshawa, their se- cond son, Steven Crawford from Thunder Bay, and the youngest son, Michael Crawford and his financee Sandra ofOshawa. The family prepared the lovely meal as their Mother, Marie hasn't been well and is scheduled for surgery this week at Toronto Western Hospital. Our "very best wishes' to Marie for better health - from her many neighbours and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sadler, Nestleton, were guests on Christmas Day at the home of their daughter Mr. and Mrs. Richard MacKenzie, Claire and Leslie also of Nestleton. On Sunday, they all journeyed to Corbyville to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ian Scott, Jen- nifer and Charles for another 1 EMIEL'S PLACE 1 Dining Room & Lounge : 151 Queen Street -- Port Perry Christmas celebration. A wonder family get-together. Charles and Jennifer Scott were with grandparents Ralph and Leona Sadler at the farm during the holiday week. Richard and Janice MacKenzie, Claire and Leslie were in Toronto for a few days during the holiday week visiting Richard's parents - Dr. W.S. and Mrs. MacKen- zie. A most enjoyable break - relaxing - as well as viewing the Museum and other places of interest, while there. Mr. and Mrs. Grahame Fish of Nestleton, were Christmas guests on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Holland and Chad, at their home in Bowmanville. On Sunday, Grahame and Neta Fish held Christmas at their home for Mr. and Mrs. Larry Smith and Penny, Hampton, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Fish, Lisa and Laura of Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Jacobs, Deanna and Rhonda of Blackstock. On Monday, Grahame and Neta "hosted" another family dinner. Those present included Mr. and Mrs. Jim Leishman, Michael, Jamie and W.D. from Reaboro, Mrs. Marlene Ban- nister, Keith, Karen, and Vickie from Peterborough, and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Holland and Chad of Bowmanville. On Boxing Day Grant and Helen Camp- bell held a celebration with some members of the family present - as follows - Rod and Debra Campbell of Pickering, Rick and Sharlyn Campbell and family of Nestleton, and a friend, Mrs. Doris Sefton of Gravenhurst. Daughter- Karen and Bruce Williamson and family of Calgary, were unable to be present - but phoned during the day. Grant's sister Evelyn Bonney from Nova Scotia phoned. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Davidge, Williams Point "hosted" New Year celebra- tion on Saturday with members of the family on hand for the occasion - Mrs. Evva Davidge, Miss Bernice Davidge, Robert Davidge Jr., and friend Jan, and Jim Davidge. Their daughter and husband - Mr. and Mrs. Alex Smitko were not able to attend. Recently, the Sam Cawkers of Scugog Point Rd., stepped out for a day - a break away from the homestead - visiting Chas. and Nell Cawker of Scarborough for a delicious noon luncheon - then later in the day - had an appetizing dinner with Sylvia Cawker, Chandre and Jason also of Scarborough. A bit of relaxa- tion to get away from the dai- ly grind! On Sunday, Dec. 26th, Mrs. Dorothy Chapman, New Liskeard, Helen Vine, Blackstock and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lynch, Lindsay, were luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Bowers of Nestleton. Many family members called on George and Ella Bowers during Christmas week - Ralph Bowers, Tyrone, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bowers, Oshawa, and Constable Jerry Bowers of Peterborough. Mrs, Verna Abernathy and grandson David and Beverley Ferguson of Bowmanville were Wed. evening guests with the Geo. Bowers. Mrs. Helen Vine, Darlene and Debbie, Blackstock held Christmas for Mom and Dad Bowers at her home. Those present were: Mrs. Dorothy Chapman, New Liskeard, Tim Cochrane, and Chris Vine and friend of Caesarea, Laurel and Tom Hansen, Port Perry, and Herb Vine were morning callers. Mrs. Dorothy Chapman who has been visiting her parents and other relatives in the area returned home on Monday. A New Year celebration was "hosted" by Sam and Mabel Cawker on Sunday after church at Crandell's Riverboat in Port Perry. Those in attendance were- Mr. and Mrs. Alan Cawker, Scott, Mark and Christie, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Kitchen, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Cawker, and Valerie, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cawker all of Oshawa. Those present for the occasion enjoyed the delicious "smorgasbord" and the family get-together very much. Mrs. Minnie Fisher held the New Years dinner for the family at home in Caesarea. Attending were- Mr. and Mrs. Barry Fisher, Susan, Leanne and friend Brian of London, and Mr. and Mrs. Delton Fisher, Scott and friend Wen- dy of Westhill. A "joyous" family party! Mr. and Mrs. Don Frew "hosted" their family for Christmas Day with all members on hand to enjoy the festive occasion. A mean- ingful day for all! Happy Event Congratulations and warmest wishes to Al and Judy Frew, Nestleton, on the arrival of a new little member of the family - "Ilene Ann" - a sister for Diane - born Dec. 19 in Port Perry Hospital. Sympathy Deepest sympathy from this area goes out to Mrs. Mary Eva MacDonald of Caesarea and her family, in the loss of a beloved husband and father - John William MacDonald, who passed away suddenly on Dec. 22, in Oshawa General Hospital. Caesarea Euchre Wed. evening results as follows: First prize winners- Gwen Robbins - 84; Second prize winner- Shirley Mills - 82; Two tied for low prize - Doris MacLeod and Ronald Larocque - 52. Also two tied for the most lone hands for the month of Dec. - Doris Rohrer and Marlene Skinner with 12. A good attendance. Next week for a good evening of fun. Utica and area news by Vera Brown Church and Sunday School this week will be held in Ep- som Church at 11:00 a.m. The U.C.W. will meet on Tuesday, January 11th at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Walter Kerry. The program for this month is Mission and Service. All ladies are invited to attend whether you are members or not. Members please be reminded to bring in your cent-a-day bags from 1982. How did you end the old year? Believe it or not, Bill and I completed nine holes of golf on the 31st of December and it was a very enjoyable day, not too cold either. As a matter of fact we managed to land one ball in the open water in the creek, but on the other hand to my delight it was nice to see them skim over the ice and land on the fairway. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Slute were Tuesday supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Slute at Raglan. On Friday even- ing, the Slutes had several of the neighbours in for the evening and on Saturday, their family were all home for supper. Mr. Scott Wilbur, who is at- tending University at Thunder Bay was home for the Christmas holdidays. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Mrs. Roy Sutcliffe who had to undergo emergen- cy surgery last week and is a patient at Oshawa General Hospital. In the same hospital is granddaughter Sharon Morrissey who gave birth to a son on January 2nd. Mr. Ross Smalley of Sand- ford, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Harper. Mrs. Mildred Thompson spent New Year's Day with Mr. and Mrs. Don Hill at Mount Albert and on Sunday was a supper guest with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd White and family at Brooklin. On Mon- day, she was a luncheon guest of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Clarke to celebrate the birthday of Mrs. Ethel West. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Strong were guests with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Geer and boys on New Years. Mr. and Mrs. John Carre from Bridgenorth were visitors with the Eric Carres on Tuesday. Mrs. and Mrs. Eric Carre and children spend a few days last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wright and boys in Isl- ington and on the way home on Saturday called on Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hinchcliffe in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Skelding and girls were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Aird in Port Perry on New Year's Day. Guests with the Skelding on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Rudi Nueurt of Brooklin. New Year guests with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fielding and Bill were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fielding and girls and Miss Donna Wakeford. Prince Albert by Ilean Pugh With our holiday weather being so good many people have been traveling around visiting their friends. On Dec. 26th, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Murphy had 40 dinner guests. Friends came from Oshawa, Brooklin, Beaver- ton, Manilla, Oakwood, Port Perry. Coming from a dis- tance were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Murphy of Perth and Mr. and Mrs. Whitehouse from Nova Scotia. This will be the last party in Prince Albert as the Murphy family are moving to Port Perry soon. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Strong spent several days in Toronto with Mr. and Mrs. Hargrave and other members of the family. Eddie Caning has been home from Edmonton to spend the holidays with his parents, Fred and Vivian and other members of his family. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Beacock and Philip served a pre-Xmas meal for the Allison relatives. Then on Dec. 25th, Bryans had the Beacock parents families for a turkey dinner. The church elders met at the home of Terry and Eileen Hodgins one evening recently. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jeffrey had their family home from Oshawa and Port Perry. On Christmas Sunday, the church was nearly filled with families for the lovely and church service. Mrs. Linda Hunter from Greenbank helped her mother provide special music, also the choir with their anthem. Sunday Dec. 26th, Les and Grace Beacock were part of the gathering at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beacock, Port Perry with their son, Gordon and wife Bernice as host and hostess. Belated birthday greetings to Florance Smith who had a birthday last week. On Thursday evening 10 tables of euchre players gathered at the hall. The winners for the evening - Ladies high Margaret Wat- son, Doris Rohrer, Edith ess. Mens Charlie Mc- Laughliny. Jim Gibson, Myrtle Alsop. Winner of lone hand series Dorothy Mec- Diarmid with 14 lone hands. On Sunday, Jan. 2nd, Clinton and Marjorie Chambers held a family gathering. Those attending Cathy and Murray Elford and family of Palgrave, John Chambers and family of Blackwater also Neil and Shirley. The church service on Sunday was a Coventanting Service with the message "'a 227 year old legacy from Wesley' A very impressive service. Next week regular church service at 11:30 also __church_ school will have regular classes. Everyone welcome. Mrs. Peter Raymer (Erma) a former resident of the village for a number of years passed away on the weekend. Sympathy to her nephew Murray Lyle. If any ladies are interested in working with girls 12 and over, please give me a call at 985-2146 as leaders are need- ed for the 4H Junior Home- making program which will be starting this month. High Point cow receives award High Point Fond Det, ed by High Point Farms of Port Perry has received a Superior Production Cer- tificate from the Holstein- Friesian Association of Canada. As a six year old this cow (classified very good) yielded in 305 days on twice a day milking 10,837 KG of milk, 521 KG fat and tested with 4.81 per cent butter fat. Her BCA was 200 milk and 258 fat. The sire is NO-NA-ME FOND MATT and the dam High Point Perla Del.
