Pearce Auctioneers entered the Omemee Tournament. Par- ticipating teams were from Port Perry, Omemee, Pick- ering Village, Lindsay, Man- vers, Bowmanville, Little Britain and Cobourg. In their first match, the Auctioneers picked up a 7-2 win over Pickering Village. Both teams worked extremely hard but with 3:01 to play in the first period, the Auctioneers took the lead on a goal by Duane Empering- ham. Chad Garvock and Sean McEnany picked up the assist. By the end of the second, the Auctioneers were leading 5-0. Jody Logan unassisted, put away a short-handed goal to the low right corner. Twenty-six seconds later Jason Cochrane dumped the puck in on a back-hand shot to score the Auctioneers second short-handed goal. The assist was awarded to Jody Logan and Gavin Cochrane. Sean McEnany picked up Duane Empering- ham's rebound for Ports fourth marker. The fifth goal was another short-handed one. Duane Emperingham picked up the pass from House League NOVICE HOUSELEAGUE Port Perry Printing - 7 Scugog Reality - 0 On Monday, December 27, 1982, Port Perry Printing overwhelmed Scugog Reality 7-0. Scoring for Muskies Cliff Lefort 2 goals, 3 assists, Scott Foster 4 goals, John Connell 1 goal, 2 assists, Darryl Slack 3 assists, Mike Pugh, Art Schryburt, Kent Jameison and Shane Nanay each had an assist. Sportsland - 3 Kinsmen -3 In the second game Kin- smen had Sportsland 3-1 but Sportsland fought back to tie at 3-3. Scoring for Sportsland Chad Brown 2 goals, Phil Edgar 1 goal, 1 assist; Ross Stainton 2 assists; Mike Olaisen, Greg Thompson and Brett Lawson each had an assist. Scoring for Scugog was Adam Cummings assist- ed by Mark Shepherd and tied the game assisted by Stephen Laird and Jagon Cochrane. The Auctioneers added three more goals to their score in the second period. Scoring for Port were Gavin Cochrane, Stephen Laird, and Jody Logan. Kevin Brown earned two assists and Jason McBride picked up one assist. Midway into the third, on a pass from Jody Logan, Jason Cochrane scored a short- handed goal. Jamie Brown recorded the shutout for Tripp. U.AW. -4 Swamp -2 In a close game U.A.W. came out on top by defeating Swamp 4 to 2. Scoring for U.A.W. were Mike Butt with a hat trick and Geoff Jardine with 1. Assists went to Herb Hatch, Mike Skerrett, John Collins, Vince Criscione and Ian Robertson all with 1 each. Scoring for Swamp was Jon Ausman and Jason Parsons. Jon Ausman also had one assist. net to make it a 6-1 win in favour of the Auctioneers. With this second win, the Auctioneers entered into the Championship round against Omemee. The / Auctioneers again worked extremely hard and Stephen Laird, assisted by Jason McBride put Port on the scoreboard first. A high shot from Jason Cochrane found its mark to give the Auctioneers a 2-0 lead. Jason McBride and Gavin Cochrane were credited with the assist. Early in the second period, Omemee beat Shawn Larocque on a breakaway to get cn the scoreboard. Port again took a two goal lead on a marker by Jason Cochrane from Stephen Laird. Before the end of the period Omemee scored their second goal. The third period saw plenty of action. Shawn Larocque stopped Omemee on two breakaways to keep Port in the game. Jeff Parry scored a short-handed goal to put the Auctioneers ahead 4-2. Jody Logan assisted on the play. At the 2:32 mark, the Auctioneers scored again. Jody Logan, assisted by Mike Sluggett and Gavin Cochrane put away the winning goal to defeat Omemee 5-2. The Championship Trophy was presented to Jeff Parry, Jason Cochrane and Shawn Larocque on behalf of the Auctioneers and each player was given individual plaques. The Auctioneers meet Stouffville Jan. 8 in a league game at Scugog Arena. Yelverton news by Harvey Malcolm Mr. and Mrs. Lyn Howe of Western Canada are visiting during the Christmas holidays with his parents - Mr. and Mrs. Allan Howe. Congratulations are extend- ed to Mr. and Mrs. Balfour Moore in the safe arrival of a new grandson this week, courtesy of their daughter Nancy and hubby Dave Robinson of Stroud. A little brother for Tanya. Mary Moore is currently staying with the Robinsons in Stroud for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Gundry were holiday weekend visitors with Brenda and Terry Malcolm and family and joined the Howard Malcolm's and Candy for Christmas Day. Mrs. Audrie Brown spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pickett and fami- ly. The Murray Irons and- family, and Paul's mother were also present on Christmas Day. Christmas Day visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Donald Johnson, Car} and Lisa in- cluded Noreen's brother and family - Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Dickey of Bowmanville and their daughter of Belleville and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Foote and family of the Gray Line. Mrs. Hazel Gray was scheduled to have her Toron- to nieces as guests on Mon- day, following their Sunday family Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Lockwood of Peterborough joined Mr. and Mrs. Ted Spenceley for Christmas celebrations. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm and Candy visited Eileen's aunt- Miss Betty Whittaker of Hamilton on Sunday. Aunt Betty had been laid up with the flu or a virus earlier. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence _ Page were scheduled to join their son Ian and family in Caesarea area for their fami- ly Christmas observation. The local Robinson clan held their Robinson Christmas at Mr. and Mrs. Bert Visus on Wed. evening past in Mt. Pleasant. Their own family gathered on Christmas Day at the home of the Frank Russos and boys. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beggs and family divided their time over the weekend between a Wilson gathering at the Nor- man Wilsons and in visiting Jim's Dad, Percy in Bowmanville Hospital with the Beggs family. Mrs. Ann Hurren and Hally were also in attendance at the Wilson Christmas. Church attendance on Sun- day A.M. was slightly decimated by Christmas observations no doubt. Special music was provided for the occasion in the form of Christmas carols - a violin and piano duets by Mr. Nor- man Skitch of Lindsay, and Mr. Jack Jones of Janetville. Christmas was observed at Malconnia with our customary family gathering - Mitzi and Bob Fick of Picker- ing accompanied by Molson their four footed family, fre- quently christened 'Dam- Dog' by your scribe. Jane and Marti Malcolm of Omemee, Mona Malcolm home from Waterloo and 'Ronnie Shar- man of Lindsay and regular inmates of squirrel cage - Corrie and Harvey. On Thursday evening, Mrs. Audrie Brown and Eileen and Howard Malcolm honoured our Firstmate and Minister of the Interior here at Malconia - Cornelia on the occasion of her birthday - a heck of a time to be born - two days before Christmas. A sumptious din- ner was enjoyed by all of us at - 227 Kent Street in Lind- say, preceded and followed by social hours at both the Howard and Terry Malcolms. A real enjoyable evening. The Frank Glasbergens were Christmas dinner guests at the Gerald McGills for the McGill family reunion on Christmas Day, and also callers on the Auki Van Din- neur of Cedar Creek and the Frank Glasbergens, senior of Orono. The Glasbergens Sr., had recently arrived home from an extended trip to Holland. Miss Elizabeth Nasato and Mr. Louis Nasato of Mississauga were visitors at Malconia for several days during the Christmas holidays. Bridgette and Walter Raiz of Myrtle were welcome visitors on Tuesday evening at Malconia. Sorry that despite our best laid plans to express our Best Wishes to the readers of this column prior to Christmas, it went all for naught as our news got lost in the Christmas postal rush - no doubt.
