This announcement was made by Alan Rae, President of the Durham "branch of the Canadian Mental Health Associa- tion, sponsors of this an- nual high school essay contest competition. Open to high school students in grades 9to 13, 'Talk-Back' invites con- testants to write an essay dealing with any issue they feel could seriously affect their life in the future. Essay subjects may be of a local, na- tional or international nature and, must be presented along with a proposed solution and the rationale behind it. Essays are required to be 1,000 - 1,500 words in length and must be sub- mitted to the CM.H.A. Durham branch office no later than March 1st, 1983. Local judges will then select one essay to represent the Durham Region in the Ontario Provincial Competition beginning April 1st. Durham branch will award the local winner $50.00. At the Provincial finals, judges will choose one entry that will com- pete against other provincial-winning essays, in the national 'Talk-Back' finals, to be held in Toronto during May, 1983.
