February 8, 1983 School bus driver dies behind wheel of bus An Uxbridge school bus driver suffered an apparent fatal heart attack early Monday morning just before he was to begin his route picking up children. A police spokesman said 68 year old Robert Temple of Uxbridge was found slumped behind the wheel of the bus. The motor-, was running. A heart attack is suspect- ed as the cause of death. MINOR INJURIES A six year old grade one student at R.H. Cornish School suffered minor injuries when struck by a car on Ottawa Street just before noon on Feb- ruary 3. Durham Region Police say Eryn New- man was struck as she tried to cross the street at the rear entrance into the school yard. She was taken to Port Perry Hospital for treatment. She appreciat- ed the visits and cards very much from rela- tives and friends. Very best wishes to Flora for better health from area friends. Mrs. Larmen (Edith) Hyland, a former res- ident of Nestleton - now a resident of Peter- borough (Kawartha) Nursing Home will be 90 years old on Feb. 12th. Our deepest sympathy goes out to friend Hugh Espie and family in the loss of a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Jessie Espie, who pass- ed away during the week. She will be sadly missed by her family and a "host" of friends. Jessie, a loyal devoted member of Blue Ray Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the loss will be felt by so many sisters and brothers within the Chapter as well. Nestleton United On a bright, sunny morning a fair con- gregation was on hand (Turntopage 12) Manchester News by Viola Johnson The opening of the Windcrest Market Place will be delayed one week from Thursday, Feb. 10th to Thursday, Feb. 17th, due to the weather changing conditions and also some of the equip- ment has not arrived yet. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald McKenzie one day last week were- Mrs. Evelyn Wilson and her neighbour- Mrs. Kay Rodd. We used to enjoy having Mr. and Mrs. Alfred (Evelyn) Wilson attend our Church enter- tainments when their grandchildren, Lisa and Lee Anne McKenzie took part in the enter- tainments. The Wilsons and Mrs. Rodd live in Brooklin. Bible study each Wednesday evening at the church at 8:00 p.m. Miss Beatrice R. McLean B.A., took her sermon on Brotherhood Sunday. It was a fine ser- mon. A brief mention was made of two little girls that played well together. When one little girl came into the house, after play, her mother asked her what colour was the little girl that you were playing with. Her daughter answered- 'T don't know, but I will look when I go out to play again." . After Church on Sun- day, Feb. 6th, our annual congregational meeting was held. Rev. Donald Tansley of Columbus was to be in charge of the 'meeting. After the church service and lunch and at one o'clock Rev. Tansley arrived. The meeting opened. We had our annual reports and discussions. He seemed very satisfied on our success, consider- ing the state of the times. At the close of the meeting, we all left for home, happy and hope to do well next year.
