The game remained scoreless during the first period but the Green Machines were first on the score board early in the 2nd period. A super passing play from Danny Maw and Mark Andrews resulted in a goal by Clair Cornish. Two minutes later Clair scored again with Greg Fitzgerald and Danny Maw earn- ing the assists. Goal no. 3 was scored by Jarrett Harmon with assists going to Jeff Mills and Mike Feasby. Uxbridge scored their first goal at the 3:30 mark and a minute later Clair Cor- nish scored his third goal of the game. Jeff Mills picked up the assist and seconds later scored Ports 5th goal. Eric Grosvenor and Danny Maw earned the assists on goal no.5. During the third period Uxbridge scored twice. Scoring for Port was Eric Grosvenor assisted by Clair Corn- ish, ending the game 6-3 for the Green Machines. The team travelled to Pickering on Wed. Feb. 2 to play an exhibition game against the Bay Ridges Major Atoms. Bay Ridges scored first and with only two min- utes left to play in the 1st period, Mark Andrews tied the game, with Clair Cornish earn- ing the assist. At the 6:53 mark of the 2nd period the Green Machines took a one goal lead on an unassist- ed goal by Clair Corn- ish. This was a very important goal for Clair as it marked his 100th of the season. Congratul- ations Clair, we are all very proud of you. Bay Ridges scored once more ending the 2nd period in a 2-2 draw. Both teams scored once during the 3rd period. Bay Ridges first seconds after the period started. With only 28 seconds left to play, Jeff Mills tied the score with Jarrett Harmon and Clair Cornish earning the assist. The Malmont Farm Atoms are now ready to start playoffs. This begins with a Round Robin against Ux- bridge, Port Hope and Stouffville. The first game of the Round Robin was played on Friday, Feb. 4th in Port against Uxbridge. The Green Machines played one of their best games of the year. Super passing plays and back checking by the forwards, great defens- ive work by our four defensemen along with two goalies who came up with some fantastic saves resulted in the team winning 6-0. Three goals were scored in the first period, the first one coming at the 5:17 mark Bantams win, tie The Goreski Insula- tion Bantams started playoffs last Wednesday night against Uxbridge and came away with a 7-4 win for their efforts. The Red Machine over- all appears ready to do their best to come away with the series. Our first goal was scored by Dave Burnett from Culbert and Cockerton. The second goal was Greg Warriner from Burnett and Menzies. A good effort near the end of the second period pro- duced two more goals to tie the game at 44. Dave Burnett got the first goal and Greg Warriner from Craig Menzies notched the tie breaker with a minute remaing in the second period. The third was ours as we scored three times, two by Greg Warriner from Craig Menzies and an assist on the second goal by Lee Wilbur. Dave Burnett finished off the scoring with an empty net goal with only seventeen seconds left. Ice Hawks nip Uxbridge feam W. ; -] B Port Perry Midgets met Uxbridge in Ux- bridge, Sunday night February 6th. The first game of 4 out of 7, was won by Port Perry with a score of 2 to 1. Scoring for Port Perry was Dar- ren Desautel, assisted by Clay Dempsey and Mark McConnell. Port's se- cond goal by Steve "Static" Akkerman, assisted by Mark Far- rell. Uxbridge's goal was by Kirk Elliott with Dan- ny O'Hare assisting. Tracy Wright, Port Perry's goalie, played an outstanding game. The second game is scheduled for Thursday night, in Port Perry at 8 p.m. Come out and sup- port our boys. Tweens lose tough one 4-2 On Saturday, Feb- ruary 5, 1983, the Chris Allen Aluminum Tweens hosted the Whitby A team - the number one team in our league this year. The Port Perry girls played a good game against this team but had a few tough breaks and as a result lost by a score of 4-2. During one of many checks a Port Perry player knocked the ring into our own net. Tough luck! Heidi Meisner managed to get 2 goals into Whitby's net, which was no easy feat. Kim Loudfoot was credited with 1 assist. Our goaltender, Sherri Harris, played a strong game in net and received good support Outstanding goaltend- ing by John Moore saved the game on. many occasions. Con- gratulations on a job well done. The second game was in Uxbridge on Sunday afternoon and after 10 minutes of overtime the score was 7-7. After an outstanding game Wed- nesday night, John Moore got the nod for this game as well. Another good effort by John preserved the tie. Good defensive work also assisted in obtain- ing the tie. Our first goal was Dave Burnett from Greg Warriner and Craig Menzies. Two minutes later Jeff Cockerton scored from Jimmy White. Lee Wilbur scored the next goal from Warriner and . Cockerton. Dave Culbert got a pretty goal when he came in from the left side and lifted the puck over the goalie into the left side of the net. the assist on this goal went to Jeff Cockerton who appear- ed to be all over the ice at the right time. After regulation time the score was 4-4. Ten min- utes of overtime pre- vailed and before we knew it we were behind 7-4. With only 2:40 on the clock, Warriner scored from Craig Menzies and Dave Burnett. Uxbridge picked up two penalties which gave us the man advantage. Thirty-five seconds later Dave Burnett scored from Wilbur and Warriner. With only 4 seconds on the clock, Craig Menzies scored from Wilbur and Burnett. An exciting from her defence which finish to 3 good game, consisted of Colleen' Scala with Denise Tompkins and Valerie White with Jessica Fluke. Our last league game will be at Iroquois Park in Whitby on Sat- urday at 1:00 p.m. Next game is Tuesday night at 9 p.m. Plan to be there because we need all the support we can get. Two minutes later defenseman Chris Legere scored a nifty goal with Clair Cornish picking up the assist. Goal no.3 was an un- assisted one by Clair Cornish. Jarrett Harmon scored the only goal of the 2nd period assisted by Mike Feasby. Ryan LaRocca played between the pipes in the first two periods and due to some excellent goal tending was able to keep Uxbridge off the score board. The Green Machines continued to play well during the 3rd period having full control of the game and scoring two more goals. A super passing play from Mike Feasby and Brian Appleby resulted in Jeff Mills scoring goal no.5. The last goal of the game came from Clair Cornish assisted by Chris Legere. Paul Kett was the goal tender during the last period and made some nice Petites assured of first place in 9-5 win On Sat. Feb. 5, the Bruton's I.D.A. Petites travelled to Iroquois Park to play the Whitby Color Your World team and came home assured of first place in the sea- son with a 9-5 victory. Kelly Calloway opened the scoring with the assist going to Michelle Beare, Kim Caudle scored the second goal from Misty Andrews. Kelly scored her second goal in this period from Michelle. This goal earned Kelly the game ring as she has scored 50 goals this season. Con- gratulations Kelly!! In the second period, Kelly scored her third goal on an assist from Michelle. Misty scored the fifth goal assisted by Kim. Melissa scored from Vicki Schryburt. Jenny Blanchard received a beautiful pass from Heather Lawrence at centre ice to score. Jenny scored the last goal of this period on assists from Kelly and Michelle. In the third period Misty scored the last goal unassisted. Nicky Beare, in goal, made some super saves and certainly stopped Whitby from scoring more goals. Denna Lovering played a strong game when left to kill off penalties all by herself. Good work Denna! On Saturday after- noon the girls played their second game of the day against the Oshawa Shoppers Drug Mart team and won by a score of 94. Misty Andrews scored the two goals in the first period. The first goal was assisted by Nicky Beare and Michelle Beare. The second goal was un- assisted. Early in the second period, Kerri Allen scored with the assist going to Heather Lawrence. Oshawa soon tied the game at 3. Jenny Blanchard scored the fourth goal unassist- ed. Oshawa again tied the score. Nicky Beare got what proved to be the winning goal on an assist from Misty Andrews. Brenda Poirier scored the last goal of the day on beautiful passes from Heather and Jenny while we were 2 men short! A nice flip shot Brenda! This was her first goal of the season. Jen was in goal for the game and had a good game. All girls were fired up and all played very well today. They were also passing the ring very well. Con- gratulations girls on a fine season!! Our next games will be in Mariposa during their tournament on Feb. 19 and 20.
