Ten brave souls slid over the ice on Wed. night to meet at the home of Mrs. Helen Redman for the "Head" U.C.W. During De- votions Helen Hortop and Marion Carter pre- sented a skit to illus- trate God's example of having a time for every- thing. We should do the same but not neglect to put Christ first. We hope to have a joint meeting with 5 U.C.W.s on June 29. Other dates and act- ivities were approved. Now we shall be work- ing toward the Art and Craft Show for April. So please finish your crafts for display. We hope to gather up former paint- ings of the Late Edna McLaren, so please let us know if you have some. This is one way of celebrating our 10th year of annual displays. Marion Carter had a Valentine reading re- minding us of the love, joy and memories re- called at this time. Marion also had an interesting contest on a word plus age. Winners were Jan Gerrow and Reta Reader. We signed a Valentine Birthday card to convey our Best wishes to Mrs. Ada Pearson of Oshawa who will be 90 years old on that date. Mrs. Pear- son is the mother of one of our Tunettes, Mrs. Joan Aldred. Before some of us knew her, she and Mrs. Ethel Redman as young girls had decided to leave England for Canada. They met on the boat and became life long friends. They married chosen mates, Mr. Thos. Redman of Scugog Island and Col. Eddie Pearson of Oshawa. They visited back and forth with the children growing up together. The result was giving Joan to the Island as a very valued resident and Mrs. Pearson's con- tinual interest in the Island people and the work of the church. Many times she showed her continued interest by gifts to the "Head" and '"Grace" churches. So on behalf of friends, and the church we here in send Best Wishes for a Happy Day and many more times when she may be able to return for Island functions. Winter seems to be a good time for some vacations and a change of scenery. Therefore, we are pleased to report John and Marci Redman with their 2 children had a pleasant time with friends in Florida. Helen and Ralph Hortop have also returned from the sunny south (tho' sometimes this year the south is not always so sunny). Mrs. Anne Alstein has returned from Holland after visiting with her parents for 3 weeks while her father has been quite ill. I imagine most of the donations for the 4 young couples have been turned in by now. Some one at the "Head"' will be responsible for Mike Adam's and Reg. Davis. Then someone else at the Centre or foot will be responsible for Bruce Prentice's and Trevor Chandlers. Lori and Middleton of the Goreski area recently welcomed a tiny daughter. But problems arose requiring the infant to go to the Sick Childrens Hospital for surgery. At present the results are uncertain. Thanks to all those of the Island United who got their reports in on time. David 'Scugog Island area news Next Sunday the children will be sure to attend S.S. at the Island United and make plans with their . families for the afternoon fun of family skating at the Port Perry Arena 2:30- 3:30 with a social time after at the church (Pay your own admission). This Wed. at 1:30 p.m. the 3rd U.C.W. or Sapphire group as they are now called will meet at the home of Mrs. Joyce Fuller at Fralicks Beach. A guest speaker will be Mr. Jim Duncan from the Central Seven Assoication for the Mentally Retarded. If you get your paper in time on Tuesday, you will be reminded of the Euchre and Bake sale at the Island Hall at 8 p.m. sponsored by the "Grace" U.C.W. - Feb. 8. Cedar Creek news by S.
