2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 19, 1983 Cesaroni objections over-ruled OMB approves 88-lot project An 88-lot subdivision on the east side of Durham Road 2 just north of Port Perry has | been approved by the On- tario Municipal Board. Objections to the development which in- cludes a 13 acre park and marina on the shore of Lake, Scugog, had been * lodged with the OMB by Cesaroni Holdings, a development company now in the process of building a subdivision on the west side of Durham Road.2. At the hearing in front of the OMB, represen- tative from Cesaroni Holdings argued that their development was required to go through the process of an amend- ment to the old Reach Township Official Plan, which stipulated the development had to be serviced with piped water, and land for in- dustrial purpose had to be provided. They contended that the subdivision on the east side of Durham Road 2 wa¥ not required to have piped water and Y2 Mile East of 4 CRAFT SHOP featuring ... McINTYRE 'Need a lube, oil or filter change? In doubt ? would thus be "ruinous competition" for their development. The OMB ruled that the development in ques- tion, which is known as the Shaw Subdivision and owned by a numbered Ontario com- pany (269042) underwent 'the same planning pro- cess by amendment to the Durham Official Plan. "The Board is convinc- ed that the (planning) process has not been cheated, the by-law con- form to the Durham Of- ficial Plan and the pro- posed (Shaw) develop- _ment represents good and proper planning," says the OMB ruling handed down March 29. In response to an ob- jection lodged by a private citizen about the affect the proposed marina portion of the development might have on existing shore residents, the Board sug- gested that the concerns of increased boat traffic, docks and possible ero- sion, should be fully ad- dressed when the developer and Scugog Township negotiate the specific site plan agree- ment covering the marina and park areas. The subdivision calls for 88 single family residences on lots from vie (0 TWO acres in size with individual wells and septic systems. There is a possibility that the OMB's decision on this matter may be appealed to the Bntario government cabinet. Jim Snow calls tenders for 7A highway reconstruction Ontario Transporta- tion and Communica- tions Minister James Snow announced that tenders have been called for grading, drainage, ganular base and hot mix paving on Highway 7A from Highway 7/12 Man- chester easterly to Port Perry east limits for 3.7 km; resurfacing on Highway 7A from 5.6 km east of Port Perry east limits easterly for 5.9 km. This project on Highway 7A is for reconstruction to current design standards. Reconstruction will in- clude pavement widen- ing, drainage improve- ment, partial paved shoulders and storm sewers. Intersections and entrances will be up- dated where required and the overall effect will provide safer and smoother driving condi- tions through this area. Tenders will be opened for this project at ministry headquarters in Downsview, May 4.
