6 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, May 10, 1983 letters 3 Have you forgotten about PPHS? Dear Sir: This letter is being wirtten to save Port Perry High School. We feel that as students of the high school the May 3rd, 1983 Port Perry Star was solely dedicated to Cart- wright High School. Don't get us wrong, we have nothing against C.H.S., but we would like some recognition too. The front page of the May 3rd paper was ill- ustrated with "A Queen is Crowned', but what about Port Perry High School's Queen and Princess? "A Queen was Crowned" at Cart- wright, but "A Queen was also Crowned' at Port Perry. April 15, 1983, Port Perry High School held their annual AT-Home, but there were NO photographers in attendance, and no story in the weekly paper. Please correct us if we're wrong and send us a copy of the paper which contains the photo and story. Port Perry High School is a very active school with lots of events happening be- sides the At-Home. Take a look at the May 3rd paper and count the number of Port Perry High School articles. } Yours truly, ~ Melanie Bruce Carla Dempsey Port Perry High School students EDITOR'S NOTE: We too are getting a little concerned about the amount of coverage Port Perry High School has been receiving recently. It is the policy of this paper to give as much coverage as we possibly can to activities within- all the schools to let us know of up-coming events. If we don't hear of these events, we won't be there. As far as the PPHS At Home Dance, the first Be Energy Wise! There was no advance notice in the form of a news release, and unlike other years, nobody from the school phoned the Star office to let us know the dance was taking place. We are only too will- ing to provide space in this community paper for sports, academic and special events at Port Perry High School. but we can't do it with- out help from the school. And recently, we just have not been getting that help in some instances. We thank Melanie and Carla for taking. the time to express their concerns, and possibly because of this, better lines of communications can be re-established between PPHS and the Port Perry Star. The Nazis were prevented from world control, not by demonstrations and pickets, but with weapons equivalent to theirs, and men and women willing to die for what they believed in, freedom. Nobody in the free world wants another war, but there is only one sure way of preventing it, and that's by keeping up with the Soviet Union in the arms race. The on- ly reason the Soviet Union has not invaded the rest of Europe, is and their nuclear arma- ment, and you had better believe it. Bill Jansen and Hans Buscher will be coach- ing the 'Mytes' which are boys and girls up to age 9. They work shifts and another volunteer is needed to work with this team for half the time. Phil Bertian will be coaching the girls team. So far no one has come forward to coach the Squirts (10,11 and 12 year olds) or the Pee- wees (13 & 14 year olds) and unless someone volunteers soon these boys won't be able to play. All the scheduling and arrangements have -been made including ment and sponsoring so it would be a shame if it all had to be cancelled because there was no coach. Bud would like to have the names of the coaches before May 24 "so please give him a call at 985-9100 if you can help out. If there are any young people who have not yet signed up for baseball, you can do so at the store.
