Last Wednesday evening the Cub Pack "hosted the 10th Bow- ._manville Cub Pack and together they toured the Nonquon Conservation Area and ended a fun evening with a camp Thursday evening Didi Obey and Anne Downey were presented with their Part I Wood Badge 'woggles in leadership training at the Beaver meeting. Several of our little Beavers attended the Beaveree in Cannington on Saturday -and very --- much enjoyed the Peter Pan theme this year. Don and I along with our three sons enjoyed 'our annual Mothers Day dinner which was cele- brated, one week later for us this year, at Emiels compliments of Don's folks, Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock of Prince Albert. Also along to enjoy the food and hospitality - were Mr. Grant Beacock and ._ his friend, Marion, and Mr. and 'Mrs. Bryan Beacock and Phillip. Saturday evening proved to be quite a delightful - surprise for John and Ferne Tobin. Their family had arranged a lovely dinner party for them at the New Dutch Oven restaurant in Orono in honour of their 45th wedding anniversary. Following the dinner - everyone returned to 40TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. George Timms celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary, on February 27th, 1983 at the home of their daughter, Marie Giannini. Approximately 150 relatives and friends attended this special occasion -in honour of the happy couple. ' Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Tobin's home in Oshawa where the happy couple were presented with a gift from their family to commemorate this most happy occasion. Those attending this gala event were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Tobin, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tobin, Kim and Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Dane Con- worth, Shane and Stacey and the grooms- man of 45 years ago, Mr. Reg Abraham. We are happy to learn that two of our comm- unity residents are re- covering quite nicely folllowing recent surgery. Mrs. Myrtie Stone is convalescing at the home of her two daughters for a few days and by the time' you read this column I expect Mrs. Margaret discharged from the hospital. We trust they will continue to improve. We were sorry to learn that our good friend Dorothy Massell has been re-admitted to hospital in Port Perry. Hope you are soon going to be back home Dorothy! Due to the fact that our minister was attend- -ing the Bay of Quinte "this weekend we were honoured to have several of our young folks take over his duties on Sunday morning. "Our guest speaker for this particular Sunday were representatives who attended the Toc Alpha Conference in Toronto last December namely Mark Sturman, Allison Crawford and Hunter will 'have been Conference in Kingston - Seagrave area news Larry Rodgers. The Toc Alpha conference was the 26th annual one and is sponsored by the Alcohol and Drug Con- cern group and its aim is to familiarize todays young folks with the hazards of taking drugs and abusing alcohol. They not only stress the damage it can do to the person involved but how it is also disasterous to the family unit as they also have to bear the brunt of the problem. Also participating in the service were Kristy Hutcheon with a beauti- ful solo accompanied by Mrs. Joan Lee, Lori - Buscher and Amy-Lynn - Wanamaker who pro- vided us with two de- lightful piano solos, Connie Carr delivered the childrens story, Melanie Lee and Jay Branton provided the scripture lesson and Robert. Wanamaker and Ted Sturman. took up the offering. We thank all of these young folks for their contri- bution to the service.
