Coyle was the founder of the Old Bow- manville Jamboree that started in 1968 and end- ed in 1973. A presentation will be made to J.C. Coyle during this event. Provincial Park campsite availability service accessible again this summer TORONTO -- Once again this summer On- tario campers can check on the availability of Pro- vincial Park campsites as a result of a co- operative program by two Ontario Government Ministries. The service is organiz- ed by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Recreation and the Ministry of Natural Resources. The first report of the season was issued Thurs- day, May 19, covering the Victoria Day weekend. From then un- til June 23, the reports cover weekends only. The weekend reports are first made available each Thursday at 3:00 p-m., and are updated through the weekend. Starting June 24, reports will be offered on a daily basis through to September 2nd. The reports are revis- ed twice daily to be cur- rent with the occupancy status of the 52 Provin- cial Parks covered. When campers call after 3:00 p.m., on any - given day they receive two types of information. First they get a report on the actual occupancy rate on any given park at 3:00 p.m. that day. Se- cond, they are offered a projected occupancy rate for that evening. In this manner campers Quilt display in Uxbridge Quilting, a time- honoured craft, has en- joyed an enthusiastic comeback! A craft which was born out of necessi- ty, quilting no longer fulfills only the practical aspect. People today are quilting because of the satisfaction they receive by creating something themselves. It is a per- ...sonal form of expression using various colours, fabrics and designs. In- novative uses for quilts are emerging - wallhang- ings, curtains, tableclothes, personal accessories. Would you like to see some of these ideas and new inspirations? Then plan to attend the "Quilts on Display" on Tuesday, May 31st, at Uxbridge Arena and Recreation Centre, Brock Street West, Uxbridge, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. These displays mark the conclusion of the ki "Qilting"" course spon- sored by the Rural Organizations and Ser- vices Branch of the On- tario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. During the course, five quilting techniques were studied - piecework, ap- pliques, seminole pat- chwork, trapunto and reverse applique. There were 32 York and 28 Durham West community groups par- ticipating in this course. Each group will have an exhibit of members' quilting creations. The Open House will run from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is free of charge. Anyone in- terested in crafts is welcome to drop in at their leisure and browse through the displays. There will be someone at each exhibit to answer questions and explain techniques. Don't miss this special event! See you there!
