Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker u On Wednesday, May 18th, a Hospitality dinner was sponsored by the Blackstock and District Lions Club, held in the Blackstock Rec. Centre and very well attended. Approximate- ly 100 were present creating a fine at- mosphere for the Hos- pitality banquet, Lion President Bill Turner in charge of the cere- monies. After the toast to the Queen - O Canada was sung and grace re- peated in unison. A very satisfying dinner was served by the Blackstock U.C.W. Those present had occ- asion to dine on a beau- tifully prepared meal consisting of roast beef - a tempting salad - a variety of vegetables - plus a large selection of desserts topped off with beverage. By courtesy. of Irwin Smith a fine Hammond Organ was in evidence and played during the meal by versatile Ron Hewat in his "easy to listen to" style music. A _ hearty sing song after was much enjoyed. The guest speaker, Mrs. - Alie Minaker, a registered nurse from Oshawa General Hos- pital, Diabetic Clinic, was introduced by Lion Roger Simons. School as they celebrat- ed their anniversary with Superintendent Robt Mairs conducting the service. With Carol Mairs presiding at the piano the service open- ed with the Processional hymn "Creature Praise" followed by the call to worship by the Superintendent. The following pupils had a part.in the service: In- vocation-Karen = Doyle. Psalm-Claire Mac- Kenize. Scripture-Ken Weir. Pastoral Prayer & Lord's Prayer-Tracy Malcolm. Offering rec'd by David Weir and Peter Simms with Dwight Davis giving the Offertory. Four numbers were sung by the S. School choir of 25 voices with Teacher Janice MacKenzie as leader. Arlene Davis was the greeter at the « door. The guest speaker, Mrs. Betty Turcott, Pickering, a school teacher and daughter of a minister, brought an informative and inter- esting message to the children. At the close, Bradley Malcolm pro- nounced the Benediction with . all - singing '"'Let There Be Peace." The offering will be used to purchase books and supplies for the S. School. We congratulate the Superintendent Robt Mairs and his staff for - their dedication and interest. Well done! Mayor Jerry Taylor spoke briefly re- the work of the vol- unteers and later, Jerry and President Sandy McCully presented each volunteer with a gold Caduceus pin. Mr. Stanley Malcolm, Port Perry was a Sun- day guest of his son, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm of Nestleton, and attended the Sun- day School Anniver- sary.
