Not many in this area - including yours truly - knew about it in time to pay our respects at the Funeral chapel. Betty will be missed by so many friends. Scugog Island news (From page 17) farm at the "Head"', Michael Freeman son of Ethel and George Free- man, school bus owners, Kathy Chandler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Chandler, a trucker at the foot of the Island. Kathy married an Islander David Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Taylor of Conc. 10. Mrs. Helen Hortop spent the summer cook- ing at a Church Camp north of Uxbridge. Recently Clara and Joe Dowson entertained the Days from Cleve- land, Ohio by going on motor tips to Elmira, St. Jacobs, Waterloo and Kitchener. They had more company when the Andrews stopped off over night after spend- ing a camping summer at Bracebridge. They were travelling home to Wabush, Newfoundland. On the long weekend the Dowsons travelled to Dwight, calling on June and Keith Crozier at the hardware store and then continued to Algonquin Park, staying over night at Pembroke, then on to Perth where they located the Rev. Harold and Mrs. Davies - Mrs. Davies was the former Helen Clark, daughter of Fred Clark from the Foot of the Island. The families hadn't met since 1942. I imagine our mail carriers are glad to have Saturdays off so they can manage the above travel and social- izing. AN "A" RATED INVESTMENT is GUARANTEED INVESTMENT 2 CERTIFICATES 5 Yr.
