October 4, 1983 -- 15 A time to give thanks Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Comment Within a few days all over our fine Dominion thousands of Canadians will pause to give thanks for their many bless- ings. Churches will be filled with worshippers - and altars will be laden with vegetables and fruits of the harvest season. It is well that our Pilgrim fathers instituted the day of Thanksgiving. It gives us a special time in which to take stock of our blessings and to thank God as a nation. We - here in Canada - have so much to be thankful for. Family Activities We extend a warm welcome to Larry and Betty Headon, Kim- berly and Stacey from Bowmanville - to our little village of North Nestleton. We trust they will enjoy living within our midst - and find many friends in this area. Jim and Bonnie Bilton and family of Lanark, were Thursday over- night guests with her parents Lawrence and Gwen Malcolm, Nestle- ton, and visited other relatives within the area. Don and Norma Frew, Nestleton, and Murray and Helen Shea, Janet- ville (Fleetwood) left on Monday for the Inter- national Ploughing Match and Farm Machinery show held on the farm of Garnet and Lois Ralph and neigh- bouring farms at Rich- mond - near Ottawa. The Honorable® Eugene Whelan, Federal Min- ister of Agriculture officially opened the 70th annual Ploughing Match on Tuesday after- noon with approx. 25,000 to 30,000 people in attendance - the largest attendance ever this year. The Frews and Sheas came home Wednesday, after spending two full days at the event - staying in Ottawa for the two nights. On the way home after visiting friends they have met from the Park in Florida - they stopped at the Lanark Glenayer Kitten factory - had a tour and shopped. A very interesting trip! Sam and Mabel Cawker of Scugog Point Rd., enjoyed a visit with brother Gord Cawker at his apartment in Lin- dsay this past week. D HR EN with per head.
